“Måke Califørnia Great Ægain”

“Have you ever looked at a map and thought, ‘You know what Denmark needs? More sunshine, palm trees, and roller skates.’ Well, we have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make that dream a reality,” the petition reads. “Let’s buy California from Donald Trump!”

Across the top of the petition’s website, a slogan calls to “Måke Califørnia Great Ægain”
More than 200,000 Danes have signed a petition to buy California from the US.

“We’ll bring hygge to Hollywood, bike lanes to Beverly Hills and organic smørrebrød to every street corner.
Rule of law, universal healthcare and fact-based politics might apply,” the petition continues.

“Let’s be honest – Trump isn’t exactly California’s biggest fan.
He’s called it ‘the most ruined state in the union’ and has feuded with its leaders for years.
We’re pretty sure he’d be willing to part with it for the right price.”

The petition aims to crowdfund $1tn (“give or take a few billion”) and receive 500,000 signatures.

Tariffs do create local jobs.... at a cost to the tax payer
$650,000 per steel worker.
Modern Capitalism seems to need a bit of high taxing Communist style nationalising of industry to MAGA .

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')ccording to the Peterson Institute for International Economics, US steel prices, for instance, rose about 9 per cent after the tariffs were introduced and the 2018 pre-tax profits of US steel producers increased by about $US2.4 billion .
Nearly 9000 jobs were added.
Capacity utilisation in the industry improved, rising from 74 per cent in 2017 to about 80 per cent in 2018.

The institute estimated that the tariffs increased the costs for steel users by $US5.6 billion – effectively $US650,000 for each job created within the steel industry.

....good news is when AI and robots take their jerbs theres no excuses for not being able to pay a fair UBI to the unemployed,no matter how much the billionaires scream we cant afford it

Superficially purchase of California looks like a good idea - after all it could be converted into magnificent riviera unprecedented on entire world. It would be a developer paradise and then greatest tourist resort on entire planet.
But there is a pesky problem out there which must be resolved first:
California is filled with hundreds of thousands of drug addicts lying semiconscious or unconscious on streets of cities and also with even more of stinky homeless people who are spreading disease and together with drug addicts they are just a huge stockpile of biological weapons very dangerous to entire world.
To make situation worse there are millions of people out there who are obviously mentally ill and they are leading aimless and useless lives not worth living.
Now lets be honest - in such an awful, decadent and derelict party no one possibly can be sane and to make a greatest development project on entire planet we first have to get rid of all Californians from California.
They will be moved to other states like Texas or Arizona to get an opportunity to lead more peaceful, prosperous and productive lives and those who violently resist are going to be evacuated to Pacific Ocean by helicopters of our armed forces.
States assigned to host Californians are going to be granted money sufficient to proceed with the task, they will make a great profit out of relocation projects because many Californians are going to become prosperous and productive tax payers again and those who refuse may be processed in prison camps system to become cheap labor for greatest corporations on entire planet.
They should be proud of it because it is the best possible thing what could happen to them in their otherwise worthless lives.

You had me until you brought up using the Danish Military. I think you will need more than:
Four American Made C-130 transport planes, 31 American Made F-16's, 8 American Made F-35 fighters, 34 Helos, and 43 Training Aircraft.

Perhaps we could sell you more? You will have extra money from the sale of Greenland. Win/Win.

How else will you meet your NATO commitment with your entire military trying to just hold LA??

Actually, according to Elon it will be a UHI (Universal High Income) vs UBI (Universal Basic Income). Then everyone can be retired, if they want.

This is the only news that matters.

US Budget Deficit Hits A Record $840 Billion In First 4 Months Of 2025;
Interest On Debt Hits Record $1.2 Trillion.

Much of that comes from new borrowings of course, a true ponzi.
As of September 30, 2024, the federal debt was $35.5 trillion—up $2.3 trillion from FY 2023

It appears Australia still gets to sell its Steel and Aluminum to the U.S. Tariff free. Australia is one of the very few countries that has a trade deficit with the U.S., primarily because they buy lots of our airplanes. Cool.

Yes, running a small deficit is a good idea, especially since the US could go bankrupt overnight and revalue it's currency. Most of our trade is with SE Asia anyway, we import most of our refined petroleum products and export out high sulfur crude for refining up there. That's a bit of a security risk but we can restart our refineries if need be. We leverage their cheap labor and newer infrastructure against our natural resources, it's why we have such a high standard of living, second only to Norway 8)

Interesting article in the local paper in Australia written by an academic and former intelligence officer.

Cuckold Europe, prop up dictators: Trump’s global plot laid bare

Today’s sovereigntists aim to weaken non-Western international associations that seek a more democratic international order.
They make common cause with similar forces; Giorgia Meloni of Italy and Hungary’s Viktor Orban, for example.
Their aim is an illiberal international geopolitical order where domestic political systems resemble “competitive authoritarianism” – multi-party elections embedded in a rigged legal and political environment.
Under this model, the media and the machinery of government are used to attack opponents and co-opt critics.

Trump wants the US, not China, to write the technical standards of the global economy.
Control over these standards creates lock-in effects in finance, telecommunications, space, robotics, bioengineering, nanotechnologies, and advanced materials and manufacturing methods.
That means full-spectrum rivalry with China.
If economic control is not possible, the plan B goal is global economic separation from China.

For Trump to achieve these goals, there are three key frontlines: Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Taiwan.

Trump pushes for a Europe that is divided, subordinate to the US, and geopolitically inconsequential.
He has long wanted to prevent the economic integration of the vast Eurasian continent, whether by Russian energy flows or by China’s Belt and Road network.

A successful Greater Germany would have connected Russia’s energy exports with the Chinese economy at the other end of a Eurasian continental front.
Instead, it is now reliant on US tankers for energy.

Trump, wants to focus on China, without diverting military resources to the European theatre.

The second frontline is the Middle East, where Israel’s military strength remains vital to US strategy.
Israel’s proficiency in surveillance technology can help friendlier Arab regimes stay in power by improving their ability to monitor and control their populations.
In times of crisis, the US gets veto power over who can access Middle Eastern oil and on what terms: energy-rich Arab monarchies can restrict China’s access to energy supplies if the US wishes to coerce it.

Israel relies on the US for its power but fights in its own interests to ensure a pro-US Middle East.

The third frontline is Taiwan, which US army general Douglas MacArthur described in 1950 as “an unsinkable aircraft carrier and submarine tender”.
At the edge of mainland China’s continental shelf, China cannot reach the western Pacific Ocean without going through the Miyako Strait north of Taiwan, or through the Luzon Strait south of Taiwan.

Undersea sensors at key choke points allow the US to detect, track and follow Chinese submarines as they leave their bases, and sink them if ordered to do so in a crisis.

DOGE Finds $4.7 Trillion In Virtually Untraceable Treasury Payments
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) on Monday revealed its finding that $4.7 trillion in disbursements by the US Treasury are "almost impossible" to trace, thanks to a rampant disregard for the basic accounting practice of using of tracking codes when dishing out money.
$4.7 trillion of OUR money went into a government blackhole.

I can guess where a lot of it went. The US treasury is responsible for the interest repayments on the national debt, Over a Trillion a year now! But try and find out where the money for repayments comes from and you'll find a brick wall of silence. "Oh it comes from tax receipts" Does it now? Prove it. Fact is it's a huge embarrassment for the Government, they pay more in interest "To Who?" than to any other government program besides SS. So where does it come from? Probably new borrowings in large part as I have suggested before.

HaHaHa, very good inke, you found a typo, good for you. Now back to the television set you go to hear how great America is and how Donald Trump is going to save everything, including BC. Don't worry about that debt you carry, the Donald will fix that too.

So sorry, I didn't realize it was a typo. Perhaps you meant the first four months of 2024? No that can't be right The Vegetable in Chief, Brandon was in charge then, So it can't be Trump. Hmm... maybe it was supposed to mean "The First 4 WEEKS of 2025"? In that case Brandon was still the sitting president for 3 of those weeks. Still irrelevant to the topic.

Nothing says you have to be the global currency to run the presses 24/7. It's probably their best option if they immediately took the money and bought BTC with it. Standard game theory.

I am not gonna defend Biden or the D's in general. They screwed up major league and IMHO are responsible for the current fiasco.

Trump/Musk need to measured on their own success and failures.

I can see that there has been corruption and waste, always has been no matter the ruling party. Frankly I see Trump as a repudiation of BOTH traditional Republican and Democrat parties. I haven't voted for quite a while because I could see no significant difference between the parties. It was time for a shake up.

I did vote against Trump this time because I asked him as both having dementia and delusions. So far my mind has only been changed toward strengthening those previous assessments.

A shake up was needed, this is not a shake up, it is a coup attempt.

On a rare occasion Caligula is the best imaginable leader which empire might have.
Like now in America.
If something doesn't work AT ALL (and America now as we speak is an example of it) it is best to crush a system and build a new one rather than trying to repair something what actually needs replacing.

From *internal, domestic* perspective Trump is doing the best job possible.
But internationally it is a catastrophe.
Tough luck!

Internally is where it has changed massively and medium term we will see the results of this social experiment.
