The SUVs and Forerunners are sold out at the dealer...

Unread postby hope_full » Wed 31 Mar 2010, 09:23:34

Today I was getting my Toyota serviced at the local Toyota dealer and I heard a salesman talking to another salesman. The conversation was unbelievable. Seems that this Toyota dealer in Hampton Roads can not keep the minivans, SUVs and Forerunners in stock.

As soon as the cars come in, they're already sold. Used vehicles are selling *above* KBB retail because these vehicles are in such hot demand. They're scrambling to keep up but right now - they have a waiting list. Yeah, a *waiting* list.

In other words, the vehicles that have the lowest MPG ratings are the vehicles that are selling the fastest.

Are people really this ignorant? Do people not understand that the cost of fuel is going to go up and up and up and up?

Are people in denial, or are they just ill-informed, or not too bright?

Personally, I don't believe it is an "either/or" situation.

I visit Hampton Roads a few times per month as my parents still live there and all the indications I see are that the economy is doing reasonably well there.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Buggy', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('cube', 'I')'m not trying to defend GM but the truth is: The H3 hummer is smaller than
the original H1 hummer
not to get off topic but... I think the GM chevy volt will not be produced. The company won't be around in 2010.

They'll be around, but rebadged as Toyota, and driven by the Chinese.

A prediction from only 2 years ago.

Is anyone still betting that the Volt when it comes out in a month or so will have a Toyota badge, and only driven by the Chinese?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he Chevrolet Equinox surpassed the Ford Escape in September by almost doubling its performance from last September, as the Escape marginally improved on its performance 12 months ago.

September also saw a return to form for the Nissan Rogue, though its 38,969 sales in September still sit very much in the shadow of the RAV4’s utter domination of the SUV / Crossover segment. With the addition of September’s figures the RAV4 has shattered the 300k mark year-to-date, two months earlier than it managed the same feat in 2016 and three months earlier than in 2015.

FCA didn’t have the best of months overall in September, but the Jeep Compass and Renegade both posted impressive growth over the same month last year, with the Compass going 75% ahead of September 2016, and the Renegade up by 38%.

The new Compass replaces both its predecessor and the Patriot, with which it shared a platform. While it didn’t outdo combined sales of both vehicles in September 2016, the increase will be a welcome one for Jeep and FCA as a whole.
