Farm girls skinny dipping in the wooden water tower, & fishin for blue-gill down at the lake.

If all the Expletive deleted. that US hawks said came true we'd all be dead long ago.

Can you say "posturing"? China would have to be prepared for way more than just some of their cities destroyed if the world nuked out.

Many terrible wars have started with the assumption that a quick, almost bloodless victory would occur.

The U.S. Civil war comes to mind...as does WWI...In WWII, Germany didn't expect to be confronted over Poland, and they anticipated a quick victory over Russia. No doubt others can add further examples.

Posturing and escalation can have interesting consequences.

Say, as long as it's going to be Petticoat Junction, can we have a bit of Green Acres? Surely the transition to sustainability will be a laugh a minute!

Aaron, kudos for your very coherent summary of the soft-landing position. I don't care how you spin it, Chinese generals even mentioning the notion of tactical nuclear war gives me the shivers.....

By the way, the water tower those pretty girls were bathing in, wasn't that also the town's drinking water? 8)

Thank god someone finally saw the point of this post...

I was getting nervous.

Putting a specific condition like Taiwan interference, is a break from Chinese "posturing" of the past.

And one more important point... this is now.

What happens when depletion sets in?

Kinda like a Norman Rockwell painting... with a little mushroom cloud in the distance.

And yeah... that was their drinking water...

With the US and China removed from the planet, thats 28mpd of oil demand gone wahoooo! Cheap oil here we come !! :razz:

By your endless talking you have revealed your selves to be total jack asses.

If you can't not be trusted to get well know historical facts correct what makes you think you can get serious and weightier matters like global politics right?

Of course I am referring to the simple and well known fact that the water tower that those lovely ladys were swimming in at the start of Petticoat Junction was for steam engine trains, in no way shape or form was it for human consumption.

ugh!

Not to mention that a "real" open-topped tankful of untreated stagnant water, no doubt pumped up from some groundwater someplace, would likely have been filled with algae, insect larvae, and other vermin, and be not fit for swimming, at least by our modern standards.
