Ibon,
There is much to what you note. Remember the Borg from Star Trek? There we are, all digitally connected and ready to "correct" any thing or anyone that disturbs out communal security.
But there is the other phenomenon, the Echo Chamber. Where we isolate ourselves into like minded, self referential, self absorbed domaines. And we MUST be right because everyone else knows thinks like us.
We Americans like to think we are exporting our culture (religion?) throughout the world. But one needs to ask; is Afghanistan becoming Western democracy? Or; is the USA becoming a collection of hard core partisan tribes?
Somehow it seems we have skimmed the worst of the Information Age. We are alike in our superficial analysis and understanding and isolated into cultural enclaves.
"For What It's Worth"
Steven Stills - Buffalo Springfield
There's something happening here
But what it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop
Children, what's that sound?
Everybody look - what's going down?
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking' their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
It's time we stop
Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look - what's going down?
What a field day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly saying, "hooray for our side"
It's time we stop
Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look - what's going down?
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
Step out of line, the men come and take you away
We better stop
Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look - what's going down?
We better stop
Hey, what's that sound?
Everybody look - what's going down?
We better stop
Now, what's that sound?
Everybody look - what's going down?
We better stop
Children, what's that sound?
Everybody look - what's going down?
