$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Ibon', 'T')he Republicans control the executive and the legislature. They will name conservative judges. For the first time in a long time grid lock can be broken and the government can actually move forward.
What moving forward means is what many worry about.
The interesting thing is that now the republicans have to own all these really complicated issues, the same issues they blamed Obama and the Dems for failing like solving health care and the Middle East instabilities. They move from obstructionist to having to deal with serious issues.
+1
As a moderate, I regret the chance to move the SCOTUS to the left for a change and fix things like obstruction against women getting abortions in Texas, helping pave the way to greener energy, etc.
OTOH, if Capitol Hill denies Trump his crazy level of tax cuts, maybe we could move toward smaller budget deficits. That would be a nice change. (Not that I don't like tax cuts -- but let's get real, pay our bills, pay our debt, act like adults and do things like repair the infrastructure, first. THEN we might deserve tax cuts).
But on things like health care, yeah. The one other thing about a HRC victory I would have liked is the idea to try adding Medicare to the choices for those over 55 -- presuming they'd pay the full freight which might be $10K or $12K, and not mess up the system for the over 65 folks). That could be a good experiment to test out "Medicare for All" and actually try to do something constructive about health care. As it is, aside from empty promises, based on lack of substance, I'm pretty sure Trump has exactly zippo on that. So if they try to repeal the ACA, then what? Back to 50ish million with no health care?
And, it will be amusing to see Trump try to magically "restore all the jobs", as though he controls global technology and demographics.
Given the track record of the perma-doomer blogs, I wouldn't bet a fast crash doomer's money on their predictions.
