$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('onlooker', 'Y')es I heard of the same study. I think other key differences between R's and D's was the R's like things to be predictable and controllable while D's were much more adventure seekers and pioneers. Also, R's were traditionalists while D's like to stir the pot. Finally, if I recall D's were found more in the Arts and Music while R's more into Engineering and Science.

Proving my point that D's are really bad at math, and wish for impossible things.

There are few R scientists, while engineers tend to be super wingnutty. I believe this is because so much engineering in America is tied to the Pentagon. Also, scientists deal in ambiguity, while engineers are more about certainty. I also have a hunch that being math oriented means people tend to latch onto the simplest possible explanation as some sort of mathematical proof which is the only reason, which means that Occam's razor simply bumps whacky conspiracy theories to the front of the line. Otherwise sensible engineers are often deep into conspiracies.

Don't mind the Ivory Tower types, they see a right wing conspiracy behind every person who disagrees with their Grand Plan of how the world should work. Engineers have to actually build physical things that function, not just theoretical models.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Alfred Tennyson', 'W')e are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

So fiddling around I found this Reuters polling site.

http://polling.reuters.com

By looking for polls that deal with fear, then mucking with the demographics a little, it's clear that the most fearful cohort is older, very conservative, males.

EXCEPT for climate change, where they are not fearful. WTF? Why the reversal?

My theory is that they are consistent, they are fearful, fearful of admitting their is climate change.

If I'm right, then we should be asking, "What is it they are fearful of?" What are they risking by admitting climate change is real?

And our likely next POTUS is a perfect example of this. (Of course, it must be true, since she claimed it was a "VAST" right wing conspiracy. Funny how when a right winger says something really stupid, the left (correctly) jump on them, but if a popular democratic politician says something really stupid, the left wing spin machine rapidly tries to make them into a superhero.

So much credibility there. :roll:
Given the track record of the perma-doomer blogs, I wouldn't bet a fast crash doomer's money on their predictions.
