And rather than speeding towards the unintended consequences of yet more techno-fixes, we should be addressing the damage we've done to the planet by existing technology.
A righteous cause, but utterly feckless. The world is growing exponentially. China and India have reached maybe 20% of their total growth capacity. Africa less than 1%. The enormity of the problem is way greater the viable solutions you can come up with.
Even if you managed to magically trap carbon, there are a million other problems that come with this growth phenomenon. There are only two possibilities:
1.) Environmentalist fears were wrong or overexaggerated, and Earth
can support many billions more middle class people, albeit with consequences, or;
2.) Earth/civilization will suffer massive catastrophes due to growth.
Either way, none of any of the solutions to the growth problem will mean anything.
All that matters is that you take the opportunity to get hold of exotic new technologies that will increase the chances of your own survival. Earth is but one of many inhabitable places in the Universe and the importance of being able to get off of it cannot be underestimated.
The good news is that nothing could be more environmentally friendly than high-performance aircraft and spaceships which operate on cosmic energy and electromagnetism, and which have zero carbon emissions. Help find out how to create them so we can escape the looming bottleneck and get off of this miserable piece of shit planet, who's very abundance was the source of our problems.
You sir, are an idiot. The sooner you are off this horrible planet the better.
