I just have to vent..... the ACLU and a bunch of illegal immigrant HS students are pushing for the "Dream Act" which means if you're an illegal, nonwhite of course, immigrant you can go to US HS for free, then get into college with all expenses paid, and once you complete 2 years you get citizenship.

Meanwhile, white students, good students, born here, are told to their faces that they can't get into this or that program, can't get into this or that college, can't get more than the bare-bones minimum financial aid, because, exactly because, they're white. To their faces.

PO adding to the rightful anger created by things like this is going to be interesting. It's enough to make you wonder if this shit is being done on purpose to cut down the US population after TSHTF through racial wars?

I have a problem with illegals being here at all. They're the ones making the streets in too many areas not safe to travel, bringing in diseases, sucking up Welfare under 3 different names while working taking an American's job under the 4th name, turning the schools - at one time the US public schools were among the best in the world and very good preparation for college - into low-security holding pens where education is positively discouraged, and so on and on and on.

You know, when this country was racist and segregationist, we were if not Amish, much closer to it than we are now. We were much more sustainable, we had Mom and Pop on the farm, farmland available and we had a Folkish sense that the land and soil were always there to welcome us back. Wanna try going back to the farmland now? Better be well armed and prepared to take it from the Mexican gangs. No more do we have a coherent society where we were of a coherent culture and if Mom didn't teach you how to can veggies, nice Mrs Schultz or Mrs Smith or Mrs Lindstrom up the street did.

You know, those old Dick and Jane elementary school books were once a pretty accurate depiction of reality. They really were, why do you think they wrote them the way they did and illustrated them the way they did? They reflected reality and they needed to do that, to show American kids how to read in the context of their own reality and neighborhoods.

I know of a "white" woman here who (although she had better grades and met the requirements better) was denied a college scholarship (which was then awarded to a "hispanic" man) - they told her to her face, we'd love to give this to you but I'm afraid you have the "wrong" last name... Amazingly it can even happen to a half hispanic/half white if they don't have the "magic" last name or don't look "hispanic" enough...

also - dont cry about your loss of 'white culture' - its also your own fault - this comes from limiting your families to 2 children at most, and preferably having none at all so you can just concentrate on bowing before the money god - all the while, all the poor immigrants are having 6-10 babies. Over time, the whites will be in the minority.

i am white irish/scottish and have no predjudice against any race - there are total arseholes that come in all colours of skin and from all cultures. i actually tend to think that white western culture is one of the most despicable now as we have no respect for anything anymore, especially not the eldery, tradition etc.

But gnm, your argument as good as it is can't be taken seriously because it so plainly ignores the greater volume of descrimination in favor of "whites" already present as a result of people with attitudes like I_Like_Plants. Whites were the ones so intent on defining the races in the first place after all.

It's just hard to take this stuff seriously, because like so many right wing arguments, it just doesn't seem to be given in good faith. There are so many omissions and distortions that it is impossible to really believe that it is motivated by anything but small minded spite and selfishness.

Affirmative action is pretty unelegant, and I admit hasn't been that effective, and it certainly is an easy target for people with a prediliction towards racism anyway, like I_Like_Plants. Nativism is growing all over the world - it's not not talked about in the US media so in the US, "it's not happening".

I've done all the kind of work the illegals are supposedly to only want to to, srubbed floors and cleaned animal cages etc and worked my way up, in a lot of those low-level jobs my white skin was a real count against me and if I could get the job at all I had to do it for lower pay.

And here's a BIG question, Mexico etc should have a higher standard of living than the US! They dont have the cold winters, they have lots of coastline and good fishing, natural resources, etc. Those guys are sitting on a RICH land and they want to come here and start me and my people, WTF? I'd like to see a Mexico doing well enough that their biggest problem is keeping US out.

And linlith, I agree completely, I'm rooting for folks like the Mormons who believe in families of 10 if they can do it, and they often can. The ever-cited Amish also, and many yes, far-right Christian groups and subsets of Americans believe in large families too. If these Christian groups can just get used to the idea that the Earth is not something apart from them to be used up, but rather a garden that we're part of, to be lived in coexistance with..... seeing Nature as something apart to be exploited seems to be a problem.......

Flurry, you judge me incorrectly - first of all I am not "right wing" - I am a Libertarian - yeah yeah the ones who scare both libs and cons alike... My main points are this...

Just because it has been done to the "brown" (or pick your color) people is not an excuse to do it to the "white" people... unless you think the first policy was right. So right there any discriminatory law should be scrapped - and thats what this one (and "affirmative action") smack of - C'mon people we can do better than that! I know "hispanic" (Spanish?) families who have done the same. They all did this LEGALLY.

There are an awful lot of Americans who'd gladly take those "menial" jobs if they could get a half a chance to get 'em. Geez, I've spent days and days pounding the street trying to get any job at all, and I'm sure other Americans have had it worse, and have not been able to because wrong skin color (white). Most parts of the US jobs like doing dishes and cleaning hotel rooms and painting houses and digging ditches are considered good jobs and whites work them gladly and thankfully.

Except in the universe I grew up in, I was the one who got the $4 an hour and worked the hardest, I've been out in the workplace and there's nothing magic about being nonwhite, not in work capacity or anything. So it's always pissed me off that people who are not as good workers as I was, were getting paid more because of their "blessed" skin color.
