Rocky,
I don't have a lot of travel urges/dreams...but I would love to one day snoop around the Appalachians, listen to some great bluegrass, see and ride on some old steam trains, and wander down to southern Miss and LA. Then, magically tele-transport home. Hearing about where you guys are gets me thinking about it.
Talk about being an outsider somewhere. I live in a place now where if you wern't born here, you could live here for 30 years and you would still be a foreigner. You are accepted, but.... you just aren't from here. I can only imagine what it must be like being somewhere that has more settled history and long time families. Our place only goes back 100 years of logging, and the natives moved away during the Spanish Flu epidemic. Our roots are not so deep here and Christmas traditions are not really shared. Although, one local clan rents the community hall and puts on their own Christmas dinner inviting all those who are on their own to attend.
The big question....will I, (and you guys) check your PO sites on Christmas day? I hate to admit it, but.....
