$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'G')o back to your first paragraph: the problem isn't productivity but production catching up with demand.

Yea, right. We will just ask those producing to produce 1/3 more to take care of those unwilling to produce.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Econ101', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'W')e are now resorting to shale, etc., because conventional production has hardly caught up with global demand, and production for the majors has been dropping:

Resorting to shale etc? What does that mean? Shale is just another oil bearing layer. The oil is the same and there is so much of it you don't have to worry about peak oil anymore.

You really are a trolling ignoramus. Have you not recognized the production rate issues at all? We all know you hate EROEI, another factor you never seem to cog is ELM. Peak oil is a complex issue and it's not going away. Speaking of which, why don't you? Since you have nothing but contempt for the topic at hand, why bother unless it's the sheer joy of trollery?

I don't get this speed issue, it's not at all bad here and I am probably further away from the central server than anyone here except ShavedMonkey. Might be an intra USA problem? For sure the spam filter is a million percent on what it was a few months back. Spam is more of a threat to the site than lack of speed IMO. It would be nice to have both issues sorted so everyone is happy with how it's working.

(Mods should consider moving the tech banter to the appropriate thread, it is off topic here.)

If PO.com crashing is the gauge, PO happened a while back.

I'm pretty sure the site runs on a server in admin's basement and is cached/mirrored using Cloudflare.

If you'd like to help pay for a server upgrade use the Bitcoin button or send me a pm and I'll see about setting up a paypal account and a donate button.

Better, send a PM to admin.

So much of it? The best-case scenario reveals 12 Mb/d for North America by the end of the decade. U.S. current consumption is 19 Mb/d.

For the global economy, the IEA reports a 9-pct increase in production from all oil and gas resources worldwide at the end of the two decades. But consumption has to go up by around 2 pct a year to maintain economic growth.

SeaGypsy, when I just hit the "quote button" to reply to this post it took 45 seconds before I could start responding to your post. When I post this, it will take another 1-2 minutes before I can use this screen again. I've given up previewing messages before posting because the extra delay is agonizing.

NO other site I use is this slow, the vast majority are super fast, taking 1-2 seconds to respond. You notice not nearly as many people respond anymore. There is a reason for that, and I don't think it is lack of quality posters.

Just sayin...

This is easily the slowest site I have seen in years. Reminds me of trying to use the internet back in the 90s.

It's just our way of preparing everyone for the future. In a couple of years as the web dies we'll initiate our dialup BBS, followed by a packet radio network when telcom fails.

As was foretold by The 600 Pound Gorilla, the end state will be distributed local node Peak Oil Posting Trees (PO.CONifer) periodically "synchronized" by circuit riders.

Hey as someone who started accessing the Internet with a 300 baud modem I was excessively thrilled to get up to 9600 in 1986 and 14.4 in 1988! Its the cream of the crop technology, don't you know?
