$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('JohnRM', 'L')ol. So bitter. Bottom line is that government can do some things right and a lot of things wrong. But, government, which so many of you have chosen to focus on, isn't what got us into this mess. Its the people--all of us--that are responsible. The government can only respond to what the people want. We wanted cheap energy by any means necessary. We wanted more stuff, by any means necessary. Now we want to avoid taking responsibility, by any means necessary. Blame the government? No, blame yourselves. Demand peace instead of another television set, and we'll have peace.
Another typical liberal argument. It's pretty safe to say the VAST majority of the 47% or so who pay no federal income taxes are heavily in favor of all the spending for all the social perks they can get their hands on. After all, to their short term thinking - no cost to them.
However, I would imagine the top 20% or so, you know, the folks who pay the vast majority of the income taxes and save and invest -- shouldn't receive a blanket description like that.
I realize that folks who wish for as big a government as possible will WANT to paint that "we're all irresponsible" label on everyone. Funny how that won't work when it's time for the responsible folks who the left so reviles to actually pay the bills though.
Given the track record of the perma-doomer blogs, I wouldn't bet a fast crash doomer's money on their predictions.
