Once the public unions have been kicked to the curb we can pay the cops guarding the donut hole what they are truly worth. About $8.50/hr more or less. Same deal with the firemen and teacher unions.

Lol. So bitter. Bottom line is that government can do some things right and a lot of things wrong. But, government, which so many of you have chosen to focus on, isn't what got us into this mess. Its the people--all of us--that are responsible. The government can only respond to what the people want. We wanted cheap energy by any means necessary. We wanted more stuff, by any means necessary. Now we want to avoid taking responsibility, by any means necessary. Blame the government? No, blame yourselves. Demand peace instead of another television set, and we'll have peace.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('JohnRM', 'L')ol. So bitter. Bottom line is that government can do some things right and a lot of things wrong. Another typical liberal argument. It's pretty safe to say the VAST majority of the 47% or so who pay no federal income taxes are heavily in favor of all the spending for all the social perks they can get their hands on. After all, to their short term thinking - no cost to them.

However, I would imagine the top 20% or so, you know, the folks who pay the vast majority of the income taxes and save and invest -- shouldn't receive a blanket description like that.

I realize that folks who wish for as big a government as possible will WANT to paint that "we're all irresponsible" label on everyone. Funny how that won't work when it's time for the responsible folks who the left so reviles to actually pay the bills though.
Given the track record of the perma-doomer blogs, I wouldn't bet a fast crash doomer's money on their predictions.

The 20% are highly pissed about getting bent over every time the mooch class wants yet another hand-out. Romney is going to reverse course on this crap and it has the progressives all up in knots thinking about it.

Debate US tax policy in this thread:

us-tax-debate-t66179.html
The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves -- in their separate, and individual capacities.

Its amazing that at this point, people are still falling for the Blue vs Red divide and conquer strategy.

The line of past, present and future Democrat and Republican politicians and presidents reminds me of a bunch of people lined up in a bar next to the pool table to rape the Middle Class like in that scene in "The Accused" where Jodi Foster's character gets gang raped.

Reagan had a turn, Bush Sr, Clinton, Bush Jr, Obama all have had turns; maybe Romney gets a turn next. Who do we blame for this gang rape of the Middle Class? LOL!
An ideology is by definition not a search for TRUTH-but a search for PROOF that its point of view is right

Our elected reps should wear sponsor patches on their suits so we know who they represent-like Nascar-Roy

I was thinking that if Mittens won, it would be a good time for blue state governors to demand an end to Red State Socialism and the "redistribution of wealth" from blue states to red.
