$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'J')ulian's ideas sound crazy, but consider that if you took a piece of land 5 mile square anywhere in the USA and gave each person a 100 sq feet of space in complexes of 100 story apartment buildings you could house 250 MILLION people.
I can't help but laugh at a statement like that.
Where would the money come from to build all of that? Without a functioning economy, the government would have no revenue and would be pushed into default. Our Kind and Gentle Creditors would not be pleased!
Do you have any idea how much energy would be required to cool that thing down? It would be an impossible task, we simply don't have the technology to A. keep people alive in there and B. keep them from literally melting from the animal/electrical heat.
Additionally, centralization would make the problems of food transportation and energy use even worse. The logistics just wouldn't work.
But I don't think that was the point of the post...
Earth has 6.5 billion people. Earth can support 1 billion of us living a decent lifestyle. Earth has a serious overpopulation of humans. Earth will find a solution...
