But.. swing voters in swing states don't think that deeply. The economy is bad and getting worse, everyone knows it. Also I'm not saying it's right but it is unusual for many Americans to vote a black man for president -- it would be the same thing if Hillary were in there, she'd be held to a tougher standard too. Economy goes to crap, you bet the first woman president would be thrown out.

Swing voters aren't deep thinkers, I think they'd vote Perry over Obama.

The problem is, the top 1% don't spend much on iPhones, Fords, home renovations and groceries. They put their $ into companies that produce iPhones, Fords, home renovations and groceries, but the bottom 99% (your "mooch class") can't afford iPhones, Fords, home renovations and groceries.

You should really stop harping on about the mooch class, when you have mooched far more of the world's finite resources than most people you call mooches could ever dream of. The more money someone has, the more finite resources they tend to use up. You act like you have more money than most people who have never had a job, therefore you have almost certainly used more finite resources and are a bigger mooch on the world.

You didn't make those resources, you didn't own the land where the organisms grew for millions of years before being converted into those fossil fuels, you didn't own the sunlight that gave them energy to grow, but like a mooch drawing money from his daddy's bank account you sure keep taking. Take take take. Mooch mooch mooch. And down the balance goes.

And yes, I too am a mooch, as is every single other person on here - some more than others. Just try not to be such a hypocrite.

All life bludges by that definition. Where cog is perhaps a little confused is that he has set himself up as fanatical guardian of a class that persistently displays a chameleon like adaptability (in terms of switching loyalties when it suits them) which should make him pause for thought. Yet he calls Buffet a leftist! It's incredible that a mere commoner could be so pedantic despite the evidence. In addition, we have had the biggest mooch in history from the very class that funds the periodicals that brainwash him, aka the bailout mooch and yet he persists in these fantasies about some poor solo mum bankrupting the mammoth budget of the US...despite the biggest mooch budget in the world as I have pointed out...by the very class he idolises. The man is weird.

edit. Its ironic he has taken the name, cog, like that other fellow we used to have on here....shortonsense. Pehaps he senses he has lost the plot.

Left wingers are a mix of the compassionate or, in my case, those who see the limits of capitalism and the consequences. Some are opportunists. I can understand opportunists of any stgripe. At least they have a reason for their ruses. Self enrichment.

Every time the left attacks the gun and religion crowd it energies the base that the Tea Party derives their strength from. Just like 2010, the left over-reaches with their income redistribution schemes(Obama-Care). And every time they do, they get slammed during the election cycle, outside the Marxist confines of this board.

Without a balanced budget and continued reckless spending, you will default. Just because the US can print money doesn't alter that. But yet again the progressives and hard left don't seem to understand math.

You should spend more time on this site http://tickerforum.org/akcs-www and less time on DailyKos. Or better yet, get away from the keyboard for a while and find out what people are really thinking about the economy.

Why are you attacking the poor and destitute for a deficit that was largely caused by the cronies and backers of the Tea Party. Fox man heavily promotes the TP, has backed the socialist Labour party in Britain when it suited him, has been in all sorts of hijinks recently for which he got dragged up before a UK parliamentary committee. Yet you keep harping on about deficits, living beyond one's means, blah, blah, blah, when its rich financiers such as Fox man, who back the TP, who have a huge stake in TP's agenda, want more, finger point those who take a fraction out of the system whilst ignoring their Wall Street investor buddies, using the TP for that objective (guns are just a distraction as Foxman who largely lives in the UK and Oz has little need for guns), and these chaps want tax cuts as well. How is the TP which is up to its eyeballs in corporate stuntmen, going to make America any better.

The tea party claims to be the truly virtuous patriotic religious bunch. The real Americans. They advice the government to reduce its revenue. They also want things to go back the way they were in 1950s. They also appeal to common sense. They say it's simple arithmetic. The government should reduce its revenues by cutting taxes and end deficits. Also let the moochers starve.

Surely self discipline, small government and free enterprise are great virtues. But how many of them are willing to practice what they preach? How many of the tea party members are willing to work for lower and lower income for the rest of their lives (like they expect everyone else to do)? They say they are rugged individualists. But how many of them are willing to fight their own battles? Why do they expect some young 18 year old to die just because they don't like muslims ?
They hope that rich businessmen will give them jobs if the government gets out of the way. Competition and free market will solve all their problems. But how many of them are willing to compete with mexican immigrants for wages?

I'm not talking about half the country, I'm talking about the swing voters in swing states -- that's 20% at most, in only five states at that. They decide every election.

The swing voters I know.. they're just not deep political thinkers. That's not a judgement. These are just average folks busy living their lives. Some women vote for a guy because he's attractive. Obama had a cool factor going last time. Some guys vote for "who they'd like to have a beer with." For a lot of people, it comes down to that old cliche "are you better or worse off than you were four years ago." That's how the swing voters vote, they're not thinking about the EPA or trade policy or future SCOTUS decisions.

I used to be one of these non-thinking sheeple swing voters.. in '04 I was too busy with my little circle of life, I paid zero attention to the election. Kerry seemed elitist and weak, so snap decision I voted Bush.

That's my only point here, I think a lot of swing voters make gut-based decisions. The economy sucks, it's getting worse. I think the swing vote will take a look at Perry and see him as a confident, strong, positive guy. If this were a football team, who would you pick for coach? Obama or Perry? Now factor in we've had a losing streak.

But whatever Cog go ahead and vote Obama if you want. ;) :lol:
