$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Plantagenet', 'I')n addition to Gore's idiotic claim that he created the internet, Gore is also infamous for his unbelievably stupid claim that social security and Medicare taxes are kept in an "iron-clad lock box where the politicians can't touch them"
To be fair, that's what he was proposing should be done, that Social Security be put in a legal "lockbox." He said it over and over, lockbox lockbox lockbox.
He was right on that, but all these pols are such weasels you really can't trust anything they say. It's ancient history now but I'd bet a couple donuts if you looked at his old lockbox plan it was probably BS. Obama talked about a lot of things too, then we elect him and he did the opposite.
The main reason I don't like Al Gore is that he made Ross Perot look crazy in that NAFTA debate on Larry King. He sat up there looking all smug and reasonable and condescending and made Perot look a fool. But Perot was right all along.
Al Gore should retire from public life, let him make another hundred million shaking down environmentalists.. he's done enough damage to our Republic and working / middle class Americans.
P.S. Above all, Al Gore is condescending. Science is objective, it is not politics. It's not right to shut down political debate and claim anyone who disagrees with you is a Science Denier. He gets away with that on climate change, but now he wants to drag that stuff into monetary policy too. What a crock, so anyone who doesn't agree with central bank policy is a "Science Denier."
(all hot air aside, an objective person can't deny this is like pols from the Right who say God is on their side. Just replace "cuz God says so" with "Science says so." It's fundamentalist, and spooky. Climate change is one thing, but this article is proof that Al Gore would just love to go unquestioned on all his opinions about everything because he's some man of Science who can never be wrong. A real scientist wouldn't throw around "Science Denier" labels like some kind of Grand Inquisition.. )
