Movie: "Oil Storm"

Unread postby Duende » Sun 15 May 2005, 11:41:30

I just saw an ad for Oil Storm, a special being run on Sunday, June 5th on FX. It looks pretty interesting. Based on the content of the ad, I'm led to believe it's a walk through on the course of events that might unfold if our supply of oil were disrupted by terrorism.

I'm curious to see if they'll bother mentioning the reality of peak oil though too.

I have e-mailed FX that they should preface the movie with a little blurb about Hubbert's Peak. Maybe they will if enough other people do the same (that means you!). It only take two minutes to go contact them and write a short e-mail.

Plausible denial. For just this reason I've been emailing FX requesting that they preface the movie with a blurb about Hubbert's Peak. You should too.

The premise is a pre emptive dig at issues surrounding depletion through geology by substituting notions of political interference as a prime reason for a problem in oil production..

as such it is a giant lie or at best a muddling of the issues..

presenting future problems as some body else's fault is a carte blanche for all sorts of bad stuff

Anyone know when this thing airs? I really need to check it out. Maybe even tape it, could come in handy as found footage for a film I'm doing.

The preview reminded of Alex Jones 911 Martial Law the Rise of the Police State.

We all know that Peak Oil, 911, war in the middle east all have something in common.

But we need to factor in the rise of the police state. Then the story gets real interesting.

Folks, you do realize that FX is a channel of Fox entertainment which is the same company that owns Fox news which is the US ruling party propaganda outlet?

My interpretation is that in a way, Bush/Cheney and the neocons are finally coming clean about what they have really been up to since Matt Simmons met with them before the 2000 selection. "See, we were taking care of your energy security all along, but thought you couldn't handle the truth." They no longer even bother to talk about Bin Laden or Saddam. The color codes have vanished, no longer effective in provoking mass fear. They need a draft but with Bush's approval rating at 43%, the time is not right.

So it is time to scare the sheeple with a fable about decades worth of Long Emergency problems happening in a few days. (That is similar to "The Day After Tomorrow" which compressed 10,000 years of climate change into a few days for dramatic effect.) Pretty soon folks in the exurbs will be putting black Bring the Oil Home! magnetic ribbons on their SUVs and waving the flag in support of invasion of Iran and Venezuela.

I have noticed a lot of anti American threads on the boards lately.
It is too bad that recording and sharing shows like this with everyone outside the states on a site like torrentspy is discouraged.
Sharing is always good for relations.
If I wish hard enough this problem will go away!

I suspect you can see the influence of fX's conservative owners in the cause of the "oil storm." It sounds like it's due to a terrorist attack, not to depletion.

Moral of story: gotta kick those terrorists' butts, before they take away your Hummer.

How is exposing that FOX News own FX Networks anti-american.

You have to realize that FOX News is anti-american and we are the defenders of america.

A news network that is the mouthpiece for the government and tells absolute lies is no friend to old glory.

Those that tell the truth are the real friends of this country.

Those of us that expose the US for it's corruption and lies are the ones that really love this country because we know this is the path to bringing America back to her glory. Those that just want to lie and cover it up are the ones causing the downfall of this country.

Which is better:
Contine to lie, kill and plunder.
Or reverse course and apologize.

Which means would win the hearts and minds of possible future terrorists??

Don't fall for the propaganda proclaiming those that expose America for what she is hates her. That's not the case. If your daughter is a whore you are going to shame her, not cover it up so she can continue her downfall.

I don't have a support the troops bumper sticker on my car. But I am an activist against Depleted Uranium. Now, tell me who really supports the troops?

Sorry for the rant, but this needs to be set straight.
