Well, today is the day, anyone got plans to make this an event? Or are you just going to sit back maybe with a beer or some popcorn and prepare to be stunned?

Yeah, I suppose I should watch tonight to be "entertained" and all that - knowing full well it could take weeks or months before things could ever get so bad in real life.

I'm pretty sure they'll screw this movie up with a romatic sub plot that entails the rescue of a loved one, but I'll watch at least the first hour.

Duh. That's what they always do with disaster movies. Freaking romantic/sentimental crap. :x

Hi,

I don't have any access to cable TV. Can someone who watches the movie post a detailed synopsis (include the ending) here on this thread?

Is there anyone here that can record the movie and turn it into a downloadable .mov file?

Thanks in advance.

Oil Storm On Now 8PM EDT, Replayed at 10PM EDT

It's a mock documentary style showing a chain of catastrophes that brings on an oil crisis. Yet to see if any true "peak oil" concepts are ever discussed.

FX is taking a cue from the BBC's previous mockumentaries. Last fall's "The Man Who Broke Britain" profiled a derivatives meltdown after Ras Tanura in Saudi Arabia was bombed. Looks from the intro that this film also shows that happening (along with the hurricane, etc.).

That's Ok though... all of the facts they have cited so far are correct. So far it seems to be a fairly good at explaining how important oil is to us... and how interdependant the politics, lifestyle, and oil are.

The "mock decomentary" is very similar to the Yellowstone Volcano eruption movie/special that aired on the Discovery Channel in the US. It has done a good job of highlighting potential effects of supply disruption, though, though it only discussing artificial restrictions on supply. Actually went into a little moer detail on economic stuff..really just expected to see a ton of rioting.

As far as the acting, second rate definately, the mock doc i mentioned above was better in that department. I got sick of that "courtesy of fake tv station X" in the corner also.
