They do. Msc is not a big deal anyway, plenty of Masters are doing menial jobs that do not require any education. But-- an impressive chart for geologists! whats a deal there-- undersupply, constant travelling, something else? If the job isnt nasty and /or dangerous, why does it pay so well?

A new guy may have to "sit wells" - looking at drill chips with a microscope. (first to know if a well is good :) )

Geophysicists do even better.

If you want to bring in a 20 year geophysicist to look at your seismic data it's $1000/day.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('IsThisRealLife', '')$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Kristen', 'W')orship the rich for they are the one's with he halo's over their heads.
I don't worship them, but do think us, the poor, do ourselves a disservice with our misguided votes and en masse discretionary spending.

Excuse my sarcasm, I just feel like some people believe the poor are getting what they deserve. It's their fault for the predicaments they are in (in these opinions). It baffles me that someone could hold this view, it's much too cruel for a supposedly modern and democratic society.

What do poor people deserve? Is there a list of goodies poor people must be provided with?

From my past experience with lefties the poor deserve the following:

1) unlimited unemployment payments
2) free housing
3) free food
4) free medical care
5)free education including hanging out at the university until you die of old age
6) A living wage(although why would you need it with #1,#2,#3, and #4)

They deserve to be able to eat, have a place to live, and the same opportunities that you probably have had. Why do you guys disdain the more liberal viewpoint so much? Whatever happened to the idea of compassion and world peace I grew up with?

The problem with the left is that they don't want the same opportunity, they want the same result. Life is unfair. Please get over it while I enjoy the doom road down.

Out and out war is better than a little generosity?

What really gets me is that you right-wingers don't seem to understand a basic easy truth. It is staring you in the face constantly. Not a secret really. Just have to get over your hatred and jealousy and watch REALITY. The truth is as follows:

people. are. redundant.

Why????

because. machines. make. stuff.

is that so difficult to comprehend?

Apparently it is. Because in your make-believe world everybody would have get-up and go, gumption, drive, and ambition and then we would all make the next greatest google or a really really kewl app for your iphone. If the colored were just a little more ambitious then they would all be like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates and we'd all be rich and happy and have horses and riding mowers and nice 4-car garages.

Damn poor folks ruin it for everybody.

this is why we are so fubar.

Thanks you for so eloquently making my case that spending money on poor people is such a waste of time.

I did not know that making you think before posting the leftist line would make you angry. I'll try not to make you think next time.

80% of rapes are committed by people the victim knew. Be careful!

Since neither side are about to do what's actually necessary to prevent catastrophe partisanism seems kind of futile.

I frankly don't know how the need for food and "education" makes someone a rapist. Perhaps I dont undestand black culture very well. But you are right psstar, most people are redundant , regardless of their occupation. Shouldnt we have less people because of it? Why do we breed people, non-whites specifically, both domestically and overseas?
Of course, governments were taking care of the "poor" for millennia now, specifically for the reasons you stated. Question is, where does the bus stop? When enough is enough? In Rome, the rich subsidized the price of grains and throwed circus shows to lumpens every now and then. That was enough to keep a 1-million city stable without prisons and police force. Why now, WITH prisons, jails , police force, FBI, Secret Service, they need more than that? Why do they need so much more that they dont have enough fingers and toes to count what they want for free?

Ah, the rich, always the nice generous people helping the poor and saving the day. (Sarcasm off.)

Why is it that often the rich is painted as subsidizing the poor, and rarely the other way around? Every flat fee, tax, etc, i.e., $20 per air ticket for air transportation safety, $10 for dog tags, $5 for road toll, etc, etc, is the poor subsidizing the rich.
