Lets all try to make our point without calling each other names, please.
The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves -- in their separate, and individual capacities.

What's truly ironic is that the productive are being eaten alive by the unproductive. But it's not the poor schlubs getting food stamps that he should be up in arms about. Here's a (by no means complete) list of the unproductive who are eating america alive:

Jamie Dimon, Lloyd Blankenfeld, the partners of goldman sachs, AIG, the joint chiefs of staff, raytheon, mcdonnell-douglas, Advanced integrated systems, ball corp, honeywell, halliburton, rockwell, northrop-grumman, sikorsky, pfizer, cigna, etc, etc, etc.

Define "productive".

that is the cost of being productive. Aside of basic things like other people's greed and your own need of security, if you are productive it means you are raping Gaia for a living, and you need other people's consent to it. But are you really productive Diemos? What exactly do you bring to the table that will turn our world upside down if you quit. I expect the answer to be in kilograms/tons, meters/kms, liters, barrels, bushels, kwts , carats and the like. I hope I will not hear something that starts with "I am" or "I was".

LOL. Moi? I'm a whore for the MIC.

Busy as a beaver. Very productive. My annual reviews all say so. Going to meetings. Writing reports. Doing work.

And if my job evaporated it would have no effect whatsoever on food production, clothing production, energy production or anything else that actually mattered for the material welfare of the populace.

That's why I'm living far below my means, saving my kopeks, and am ready to bug out and find a place to purchase in flyover country just as soon as this job evaporates.

Food Stamp use sets new record, on parabolic trajectory

Market Celebrates Just Announced Record Foodstamp Usage By Closing At 2010 Highs

For those seeking a perfect explanation of what is happening in United Banana States of America right now, then look no further: the just released September Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program data is out and we are happy to report that the number of poor Americans has never been higher - SNAP recipients just hit a fresh all time high of 42.9 million. Naturally, the market celebrates the record number of poor Americans by closing at 2010 highs.

That's one nasty looking graph. Far from "recovering much sooner than expected," since 2007 Americans have been steadily, relentlessly becoming impoverished.

As the 99'ers fall off extended unemployment expect this number to continue to grow for a while. With all the hype over economic recovery, the food stamp metric is one that indicates the exact opposite.

If you like to see how bad this has been throughout this recession, you can review the data here: http://www.fns.usda.gov/pd/34snapmonthly.htm

Now set that beside graphs of corporate profits over the same time period and I wonder what you'd see.

That is why we need to push for Ron Paul to make the fed open its books. The left, right, and center ought to agree on one thing. We need to claw back the illicit profits of the banksters and Wall Street. We don’t need to write a single law. We simply need someone with the sand to enforce what is already on the books. Fraud is fraud it is as simple as that.

I'm sure if I wait around long enough you will show the cause and effect that you desperately hope is evident.

Does this chart work for you?

http://voices.washingtonpost.com/ezra-klein/2010/11/the_real_story_on_corporate_pr.html

Don't know much about this source, but it appears to coincide with the Bureau of Economic Analysis charts. The dip in 2008 in this chart appears to coincide with the uptick in 2008 on the food stamp graph, ya think?

Anyhow, the chart I found seems to indicate that corporate profits are back to historic highs as the food stamp graph shows historic highs also, as I believe SCF was neither desperate nor hopeful in his wonder.

Next?

Your chart doesn't show the relationship between corporate profits and increased food stamp usage. Where is the cause and effect that you are aiming for? Are you saying that increased corporate profits create poor people? Then prove that contention.

Q: Why do so many people require US government funded food?

A: Six people share a pie. One of them eats five slices. The other five people split the remaining slice.

Because there is hardly any private sector left. Government is consuming all the capital.

And how is the money generated to create government jobs? Quantitative easing or borrowing.

There will be no recovery. I'm not sure why people don't understand that being on a Peak Oil site.
