I'm curious about the demographic of the forum, and would like to know more about what the users here have as academic interests.

I'm currently working on a master's degree in computer science. I kinda wish I'd become a carpenter instead... :P

You left off engineering/technical. There are probably more of us than some of the categories you did include.

Engineering here.

Hey, what was with the choices - it's almost like technic cleansing - no engineers, you still need us you know.

My original plans were to become a geologist, but I couldn't deal with math and chemistry.

Then I was a biology major--same problem.

Then an art major.

Then English, like a whale washed up on the beach.

Yes, in the consumer world we live in, computer science is a wonderful thing but really it's completely fuckin' useless and is about as valuable to post peak as a chocolate fireguard or a rice paper condom.

I'm in the Security world which is my favourite irony.
I look after people's security and seeing how secure we all are now , I must be doing a good job

Hey reggie,

You are right about those rice paper condoms - not worth a shit. No so sure about the chocolate fireguard though, certainly not much use as a fireguard but it really is tasty.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('killJOY', 'M')y original plans were to become a geologist, but I couldn't deal with math and chemistry.

Then English, like a whale washed up on the beach.

Perhaps this explains your faith in biodiesel solving all of our problems. *grin*

I work in the specialty chemical field. Our raw material costs are currently going through the roof.

Liberal Arts degree and half a masters in Music.

I've supported myself and my family very well for over 30 years as a programmer/software engineer.

Go figure. :P

If those lyrics were to be rewritten today, it would be computer scientist, not carpenter. Whodathunkitt? :-D
