Some of you may find this amusing, given my history here. heh heh. That's me to a T. There must be something to these psyche tests. Truth is, I like being histrionic. What amazed me was there wasn't one single moderate in the bunch, all lows except for one high.

I have stories I could tell you going back to when I was 5 years old, but I won't, because that would be, well, histrionic. 8) Besides that, I would like to ask these psyche test writers some questions. . .

I entered thread planning to rant against whoever dragged this thing out of the turd pile.

The amusement killed the rant though. Thanks PMS. :-D

Although from the disorder test I may be a bit odd

Not too unhappy with the other test. The love bit will change soon I'm sure.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('marko', 'D')o you really want to post your "psychiatric disorder" results on the web? Are you not at all concerned that someone might use them against you?

How would someone "use them against you"?

I don't personally have a problem with the world knowing I'm a loon.

Ludi, don't worry about it.

Marko is of the Tin Foil Hat persuasion.

I've become convinced that the TFHs have taken over this board.

Sometimes I wonder why I still bother...

for the sport of it? Zardoz asked why so many antisemites congregate here. My answer is that when most people hear about peak oil they scoff. That's the mainstream 'normal' people. It takes a certain kind of eccentric quality to even let it in. Hence all the odd points of view and odd characters.

35% of US Americans Still Support Bush: Diagnosing the Insanity

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')he essential features of Americanistic Personality Disorder include pervasive patterns of extreme self-absorption, profound and long-term lapses in empathy, a deep disregard for the well-being of others, a powerful aversion to intellectual honesty and reality, and a grossly exaggerated sense of the importance of one’s self and one’s nation. These patterns emerge in infancy, manifest themselves in nearly all contexts, and often become pathological.

These patterns have also been characterized as sociopathic, or colloquially as the “Ugly American Syndrome.” Note that the latter terminology carries too benign a connotation to accurately describe an individual afflicted with such a dangerous perversion of character.

A pervasive pattern of greed, selfishness, and lack of empathy, beginning the moment he or she begins to intellectualize and presented in nearly all contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

1. lacks empathy due to an excessive degree of self-absorption

2. believes that he or she is exceptional and morally superior

3. frequently engages in exploitative behaviors

4. requires frequent acquisition of goods he or she doesn’t need

5. usually resorts to some form of overt or covert violence, coercion, or extortion to resolve conflicts

6. perceives others as obstacles to his or her “success”

7. disregards laws and rules except as a means to achieve his or her agenda

8. demonstrates deep hypocrisy by projecting a righteous, benevolent image while committing reprehensible acts

9. refuses to accept the consequences of his or her actions

The "right" answer to every one of the questions is no.

If you answer no you are normal.

If you answer yes you are defective.

Do you often find that your emotions are inappropriate for a given situation?

Even to that one.

Read it closely. It's really not well-written at all. You could answer no even if you found that your emotions were occasionally inappropriate for a given situation.

It's kind of a dumb test, in that it's clear which answer is better for each question. A good test would have questions that were harder to pin down regarding what the "better" answer was.

I think it also depends on what kind of mood you're in when you take it, since so many of the questions seem to be trying to figure out how paranoid you are.

The best test would make the better answer "look" like the wrong answer.

For example:

"When you walk by a group of people and you overhear someone saying that you are a complete jerk and an idiot do you wonder if people are talking about you behind your back?"

"Yes" means you are paranoid, but it is also the most appealing answer.

"No" means you are not paranoid, but doesn't seem like the right answer.

But then again I could argue it the other way just as easily.
