The news is that a reasonably attractive woman instead of greencard and accelerated US citizenship got a lazy good-for-nothing husband and a mixed-race baby. Thats is very entertaining.

Maybe he'll do that. He just got there. Or, maybe he really does have different priorities; in the video he talks about living close to nature, likes small village life where neighbors actually give a damn about each other.

I would also not call casinos "real business" I hate gambling; it is the number 2 scourge behind alcohol to indigenous people worldwide. I would be willing to bet that lifestyles (as counted by mortality, chronic disease, imprisonment) have not changed significantly for the better since the casinos were allowed in.
Well we're coming at this from two different angles, you with aboriginals and me with Native Americans. The support given to American Indians is pennies.. it's not any kind of burden in our federal budget.
I agree that it's not the best solution.. a culture of dependence is destructive. But it's better than nothing and we owe it to them. Found this with a quick google search:

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_Native_Americans_were_killed_by_the_US_government The numbers could be argued, and the causes (like Indian wars and outright bounties on scalps vs. decimation by disease), but undeniably a MASSIVE NUMBER of native people were wiped out in this country as a result of British settlement and latter US policies. I don't care if they're dependent forever -- we owe it to them.
As for casinos.. yes it's not the best solution, the problem is that you have to find something unique to offer on reservation land that can't be had elsewhere. It's usually bad land, in the middle of nowhere, so there aren't many options. They won some court cases giving them limited sovereignty and so that's how they can have casinos even in a non-gambling state.
I've seen Indians working at the Indian casinos I've been to. At least it's a job, it's better than nothing. And at least the tribe gets the money -- if we're going to have gambling, why not let the Indians have it rather than corporations.
It's not all gambling though, they're trying other things like the Grand Canyon skywalk:

Ripped off blind? Most of Cleetuses of the first world dont do jackshit (and yes that includes you) and enjoy highest standarts of living humanity had ever known. How can someone complain about taxes when they give away a part of something they didnt earn in the first place. Unless of course they just like bitching about everything.
