Peculiar Lyrics

I'm a big fan of the Moody Blues, but what can you make of these lyrics:

Send, Send me no wine
Just send my love away

nah you're just a traditionalist.

although the lyrics remain just as good if not better than those of tool.
ah well they're both maynards.

Pet
Don't fret precious I'm here
Step away from the window
And go back to sleep

Lay your head down child
I won't let the boogeyman come
Count the bodies like sheep
To the rhythm of the war drums
Pay no mind to the rabble
Pay no mind to the rabble
Head down, go to sleep
To the rhythm of the war drums

Pay no mind what other voices say
They don't care about you
Like I do, like I do
Safe from pain and truth and choice
And other poison devils
See, they don't give a fuck about you
Like I do
Just stay with me
Safe and ignorant
Go back to sleep
Go back to sleep

Lay your head down child
I won't let the boogeyman come
Count the bodies like sheep
To the rhythm of the war drums
Pay no mind to the rabble
Pay no mind to the rabble
Head down, go to sleep
To the rhythm of the war drums

I'll be the one to protect you from
Your enemies and all your demons
I'll be the one to protect you from
A will to survive and a voice of reason
I'll be the one to protect you from
Your enemies and your choices, son
They're one and the same
I must isolate you
Isolate and save you from yourself

Swayin' to the rhythm of the new world order and
Countin' bodies like sheep
To the rhythm of a war drum
The boogeymen are coming
The boogeymen are coming
Keep your head down
Go to sleep
To the rhythm of the war drums

Stay with me
Safe and ignorant
Just stay with me
I'll hold you and protect you from the other ones
The evil ones
Don't love you son
Go back to sleep

There you go man, Keep as cool as you can... Face piles and piles of trials with smiles

It riles them to believe that you percieve the web they weave And keep on thinking free.

A perfect circle is fronted by tools lead singer Maynard Keenan.

Tool most definately rocks but audioslave is running away with the show at the moment.
System of a down is #2 in my book currently.

Yes Aenema is a fascinating album and yes the song aenema is on my current PO playlist 8)

I anxiously await tool's next offering.

False Advertisements
by Bright Eyes

On a string I was held. The way that I move, can you tell?
My actions are orchestrated from above. So I swing and I sway.
Wave my hand. Kick my leg. And it is always right with the music.
"Until all that swinging starts to make you sick"
For a song I was bought. Now I lie when I talk with a careful eye on the cue card.
Onto a stage, I was pushed with my sorrow well rehearsed.
So give me all your pity and your money. Now.
"We used to think that sound was something pure"
If I could act like this was my real life and not some cage where I've been placed,
then, I could tell you the truth like I used to and not be afraid of sounding fake.
Now all that anyone is listening for are the mistakes.
In a house, by myself, I hear the ice start to melt and watch rooftops weep for the sunlight.
And I know what must change. F*ck my face. F*ck my name.
They are brief and false advertisements for a soul I don't have.
Something true I have lacked and spent my whole life trying to make up for.
But I found in a song and in the people I love. They will lift me up out of darkness.
Now my door stands open. I am inviting everyone in. We will drink.
We will laugh until the morning comes. That is what we are going to do.

TOOL definitely has the best musicians on the planet.

Spec,

I'm surprised to hear you say you think A Perfect Circle is a better band. Maynard started APC as a side project when he and the rest of TOOL were caught up in a bunch of legal issues with their record label. I kind of see it as arguing over what flavor of ice cream is better. Not only that, APC is clearly anti-Bush (just check out the video for “Counting Bodies Like Sheep To The Rhythm Of the War Drums”). PeakOil is addressed in that video too.

Don't know if this was already posted but Americas best poet wrote this;

"Once upon a time you dressed so fine, threw the bums a dime, didn't you.

People would call say beware doll, you're bound to fall. You thought they were all kiddin you, didn't you?

You used to laugh about, everybody that was hanging out

Now you don't talk so loud, now you don't seem so proud, about havin to be scrounging around for your next meal.

How does it feel

to be without a home, with no direction home, like a rolling stone."

Believe it or not: No Doubt, with a song originally written about Disneyland (supposedly). I get so much more out of this song now.

TRAGIC KINGDOM:

Once was a magical place
Over time it was lost
Price increased the cost
Now the fortune of the kingdom
Is locked up in its dungeon vaults
The castle floor lies in traps
With coiled wires set back
Decoyed by old cheese
Now the drawbridge has been lifted
As the millions
They drop to their knees

They pay homage to a king
Whose dreams are buried
In their minds
His tears are frozen stiff
Icicles drip from his eyes

The cold wind blows as it snows
On those who fight to get in
On heads that are small
Disillusioned as they enter
They're unaware what's
Behind castle walls
But now it's written in stone
The king has been overthrown
By jesterly fools
And the power of the people
Shall come to believe they do rule

Welcome to the tragic kingdom
Cornfields of popcorn
Have yet to spring open

CoC is kinda like Metallica meets Molly Hatchet and they write largely about corruption hence Corrosion of Conformity

Long Whip / Big America

Saw the news today, some D.C. suit trying to break away,
said he lost another million
just another old man trying to pass the buck with a dirty hand
good thing he knows his bible

Stick his ass in hell ever better in in this tiny cell
make him understand the meaning
of these words they try to preach just to keep them out of the nations reach
I guess it's all for the better
whatever :x

Take it all away
take me
won't you take me far away
HEY HEY HEY what's that game you play
will it make me richer?
cause I do not have a dime and I hate to waste your time
maybe I'm wrong but I think this whip is too long

now I was barely 21 lying in a ditch with a loaded gun
so I gave my heart away
but I got it back today in a velvet box stamped USA
now all the neighbors call me hero.

I was about to lose my mind so I buckled down and did some crime
but it wasn't what they taught me
hit the road in high pursuit now I'm on the run just like a suit
didn't know it was this easy

Take it all away
take me
won't you take me far away
HEY HEY HEY what's that game you play
will it make me a poor man?
cause I got an extra dime and I lose it every time
maybe I'm wrong but I think this whip is too long

HEY HEY HEY what's that game you play
will it make me richer?
cause I do not have a dime and I hate to waste your time
maybe I'm wrong but I think this whip is too long

No more, no more
see I can't find the time to crawl across the line
but I can't stay here...

No more, no more
see I can't seem find the time to crawl across that line
but I can't stay here till I die

DIRTY HANDS AND EMPTY POCKETS/ ALREADY GONE

THERE ‘S A RIGHTEOUS FOOL AMONG THE WEAK
WHERE A FALLEN MAN IS BITTER SWEET
AND WITH HIS SOUL HE DEFICATES
INTO THIS WORLD HE FILLED WITH HATE
ALL YOUR LIES HAVE TURNED TO LOGIC
AND YOU GOT NOTHING IN YOUR POCKET
WHO? YOU!

THE TRUTH IS HARD TO FIND
WHEN YOU GOT SURVIVAL ON YOUR MIND
IF YOU PROMISE NOT TO TATTLE I’LL BRING YOUR SON
BACK HOME FROM BATTLE
AND KEEP YOU FLOATIN ON YOUR FEET
SO YOU FEEL ALIVE BUT YOUR REALLY ASLEEP
WHO? YOU!

YOU OBSERVED IT FROM THE START
NOW YOU’RE A MILLION MILES APART
AS WE BLEED ANOTHER NATION
SO YOU CAN WATCH YOU FAVORITE STATION
NOW YOU EYES POP OUT YOUR SOCKETS
DIRTY HANDS AND EMPTY POCKETS
WHO? YOU!

HOMEMADE DECEPTION NOW A SOURCE OF PRIDE
YOU CAN TAKE ALL YOU WANT OLD LADY
CAUSE GOD KNOWS I’VE TRIED
TRUTH BE KNOWN IT WAS NEVER SHOWN
RUN LIKE HELL IT COMES AS NO SURPRISE
ONE DAY YOU WILL SEE WHAT IT FEELS LIKE
TO BE FREE
REMEMBER ME WHEN YOU’RE SAFE AT HOME
I’M ALREADY GONE!
YES SIR!

THE MAN SAID WE’RE GONNA DO IT ALONE
WE’RE GONNA GIVE IT TO HIM TIL THEY BLEED
GONNA LAID IT ON ’EM TIL THEY’RE GONE
THEN GIVE THEM EVERYTHING THEY NEED!

TRUTH BE SHOWN FUTURE STAYS UNKNOWN
GIVE ‘EM HELL EVERY SINGLE TIME
ONE DAY YOU WILL SEE WHEN YOU’RE SIX FEET DOWN
LIKE ME…REMEMBER ME WHEN YOU’RE SAFE AT HOME, YES SIR…
I’M ALREADY GONE!

(SPOKEN WORD SERGEANT)

“ATTENTIION”
“FIRE WHEN READY “
“KILL THAT SON OF A BITCH”
“GET UP”

GET ON GET ON GET ON GET UP!
GET ON GET ON GET ON GET UP!
GET ON GET ON GET ON GET UP!
GET ON GET ON GET ON GET UP!
GET ON GONNA LOCK AND LOAD
GONNA GIVE IT TO ‘EM WHEN THE’RE HAZY
GET ON LAY YOUR MOTHERS DOWN
GONNA GIVE IT TO EM TIL THE’RE CRAZY

TRUTH BE SHOWN
THE FUTURE STAYS UNKNOWN
GIVE ‘EM HELL EVERY SINGLE TIME
ONE DAY YOU WILL SEE
WHEN YOU’RE SIX FEET DOWN LIKE ME
REMEMBER ME WHEN YOU’RE SAFE HOME

CAUSE I’M ALREADY GONE

YES SIR!
You observed it from the start

Arlington
Trace Adkins

I never thought that this is where I'd settle down.
I thought I'd die an old man back in my hometown.
They gave me this plot of land,
Me and some other men, for a job well done.

There's a big White House sits on a hill just up the road.
The man inside, he cried the day they brought me home.
They folded up a flag and told my Mom and Dad:
"We're proud of your son."

And I'm proud to be on this peaceful piece of property.
I'm on sacred ground and I'm in the best of company.
I'm thankful for those thankful for the things I've done.
I can rest in peace;
I'm one of the chosen ones:
I made it to Arlington.

I remember Daddy brought me here when I was eight.
We searched all day to find out where my grand-dad lay.
And when we finally found that cross,
He said: "Son, this is what it cost to keep us free."

Now here I am, a thousand stones away from him.
He recognized me on the first day I came in.
And it gave me a chill when he clicked his heels,
And saluted me.

And I'm proud to be on this peaceful piece of property.
I'm on sacred ground and I'm in the best of company.
I'm thankful for those thankful for the things I've done.
I can rest in peace;
I'm one of the chosen ones:
I made it to Arlington.

And everytime I hear twenty-one guns,
I know they brought another hero home to us.

And I'm proud to be on this peaceful piece of property.
I'm on sacred ground and I'm in the best of company.
We're thankful for those thankful for the things we've done.
We can rest in peace;
'Cause we are the chosen ones:
We made it to Arlington.

Yeah, dust to dust,
Don't cry for us:
We made it to Arlington.

I'm just trying to be a father
Raise a daughter and a son
Be a lover to their mother
Everything to everyone
Up and at 'em, bright and early
I'm all business in my suit
Yea, I'm dressed up for success
From my head down to my boots

I dont do it for the money
There's bills that I can't pay
I don't do it for the glory
I just do it anyway
Providing for our future's my responsibility
Yea I'm real good under pressure
Being all that I can be

And I can't call in sick on mondays
when they weekends been too strong
I just work straight through the holidays
And sometimes all night long
You can bet that I stand ready when the wolf growls at the door
Hey, I'm solid, hey I'm steady, hey, I'm true down to the core

And I will do my duty no matter what the price
I've counted up the cost, I know the sacrifice
Oh, and I dont want to die for you
but if dyin's asked of me
i'll bear that cross with honor
cause freedom dont come free

I'm an amiercan soldier, and american
beside my brothers and my sisters i will proudly take a stand
when liberty's in jeopardy i will always do what's right
i'm out here on the front lines
sleep in peace tonight
american soldier i'm an american soldier

Yeah an american soldier, and american
beside my brothers and my sisters i will proudly take a stand
when liberty's in jeopardy i will always do what's right
i'm out here on the front lines
sleep in peace tonight
american soldier i'm an american
An american

Letters From Home
{i]John Micheal Montgomery[/i]

My Dear Son, it is almost June,
I hope this letter catches up to you, and finds you well.
Its been dry but theyre calling for rain,
And everything's the same ol same in Johnsonville.
Your stubborn 'ol Daddy aint said too much,
But Im sure you know he sends his love,
And she goes on,
In a letter from home.

I hold it up and show my buddies,
Like we aint scared and our boots aint muddy, and they all laugh,
Like theres something funny bout the way I talk,
When I say: "Mama sends her best yall."
I fold it up an' put it in my shirt,
Pick up my gun an' get back to work.
An' it keeps me driving me on,
Waiting on letters from home.

My Dearest Love, its almost dawn.
Ive been lying here all night long wondering where you might be.
I saw your Mama and I showed her the ring.
Man on the television said something so I couldnt sleep.
But Ill be all right, Im just missing you.
An' this is me kissing you:
XXs and OOs,
In a letter from home.

I hold it up and show my buddies,
Like we aint scared and our boots aint muddy, and they all laugh,
'Cause she calls me "Honey", but they take it hard,
'Cause I dont read the good parts.
I fold it up an' put it in my shirt,
Pick up my gun an' get back to work.
An' it keeps me driving me on,
Waiting on letters from home.

Dear Son, I know I aint written,
But sittin' here tonight, alone in the kitchen, it occurs to me,
I might not have said, so Ill say it now:
Son, you make me proud.

I hold it up and show my buddies,
Like we aint scared and our boots aint muddy, but no one laughs,
'Cause there aint nothing funny when a soldier cries.
An' I just wipe me eyes.
I fold it up an' put it in my shirt,
Pick up my gun an' get back to work.
An' it keeps me driving me on,
Waiting on letters from home.

Corrosion of Conformity - Blind - Vote With A Bullet

The Number In Nations
The God In Their Hearts
The Justice In Swine
The Devil In God

Vote
This Long Hand That Breaks Our Back
Still Casting Shadows On All That We See
Unjustified...Mercy Killing Is Just A Feeling
To Keep Our Numbers From Being Free

[Chorus]
Prison For Praise Is Not Worth Thinking
Sin Is Still In And Our Ballots Are Shrinking
So Unleash The Dogs - The Only Solution
Forgive And Forget, Fuck No
I'm Talking About A Revolution

The Prophet Man's Got A Needle In His Hand
Draws His Dreams From Your Soul - Bleeding Minds Into Sand
The Year Of The Fear Has Arrived Decades Too Late
And Our Right To Stand And Fight Is Now Solely Sealed In Fate

[Repeat First Chorus]

One Last Chance Mission With A Vision
'Cos Our Lives Are Just Cards In Their Stack
Our Time Is Short But Theirs Is Shorter
How Much Longer Can They Hold Us Back

[Chorus]
Prison For Praise - The Obvious Answer
Once Had Power Mad - Living Disaster
Dont Fuck With Me 'Cos I'm On The Freedom Train
That Bears No Name - This Time
I'm Voting With A Bullet

The View They Once Knew Made Our Nooses Too Tight
This Justice In Swine
The Devil In God

So God Bless My Soul - I've Got Total Control
And The Crosshairs Lined Up Dead In My Sight

I'm Voting With A Bullet [smilie=qright1.gif]

(A.K.A. The official theme song of suburbia)

I know Seymour's the greatest
But I'm dating a semi-sadist
So I've got a black eye
And my arm's in a cast.
Still, that Seymour's a cutie
Well, if not, he's got inner beauty
And I dream of a place
Where we could be together at last

A matchbox of our own
A fence of real chain link,
A grill out on the patio
Disposal in the sink
A washer and a dryer and an ironing machine
In a tract house that we share
Somewhere that's green.

He rakes and trims the grass
He loves to mow and weed
I cook like Betty Crocker
And I look like Donna Reed
There's plastic on the furniture
To keep it neat and clean
In the Pine-Sol scented air
Somewhere that's green

Between our frozen dinner
And our bedtime, nine-fifteen
We snuggle watchin' Lucy
On our big, enormous twelve-inch screen

I'm his December Bride
He's Father, he Knows Best
Our kids watch Howdy Doody
As the sun sets in the west
A picture out of Better Homes and Gardens magazine

Far from Skid Row
I dream we'll go
somewhere that's green.

I was just listening to Busta Rhymes' "ELE" record from the late 90s and I thought the doomers here may appreciate the "Intro" track lyrics....$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')ntro - There's Only One Year Left - Busta Rhymes
Little girl: daddy, what's it gonna be like in the year 2000?
Dad: well sweetheart, for your sake I hope it'll all be peaches & Cream.
But I'm afraid the end time is near. the cataclysmic apocalypse Refered
To in the scriptures of every holy book known to mankind. it will be an
Era fraught with boundless greed & corruption, where global monitary
Systems disintegrate, leaving brother to kill brother for a grain of Over
Cook rice. the nations of the civilized world will collapse under the
Impressive weight of parasitic political conspiracies which remove all
Hope & optimism from their once faithfull citizens. around the globe,
Generations of polluters will be punished for their sins. unsheilded
By the o-zone they have successfully depleted, left to bake in the
Cering naked rays of light. wholesale assassinations served to Destabilize
Every remaining government, leaving the starving & wicked to fend
For themselves. bloodthirsty renegade cyborgs created by tax dodging
Corporations reek havok. pissed off androids tired of being slaves to
A godless & gutless system, where the rich get richer & the poor get
Fucked over and out, unleash total world wide destruction by means
Of nuclear holocaust, annihilating the terrified masses, leaving in Its
Torturous wake nothing but vicious, cannibalistic, mutating, Radiating,
And horribly dis-figured hordes of satanic killers, ? begged on Revenge,
But against home? , there are so few left alive. starvation reins Supreme,
Forcing unlucky survivers to eat anything & anyone in their path.
Massive earthquakes crack the planets crust like a hollow egg shell,
Causing unending volcanic eruptions. creatures of the seven seas,
Unable to escape the certain death upon land, boil in their liquid Prison.
Disease then circles the earth, plagues & viruses with no known cause
Or cure laying waste to whatever draws breath, and human-kind having
Proven itself to be nothing more than a race of ruthless scavengers, Fall
Victim to merciless attacks at the hands of interplanetary alien Tribes who
Seek to conquer our charred remains. this is extinction level event, The
Final world front. and there is only, one, year, left.
Little girl: wow, that's cool, I can't hardly wait!
Dad: you don't have to, beacause here it is..........(echos out)
Hi-larious!

Alpo Nova!

Summer breeze makes you feel alright
Neon lights shining brightly make your brain ignite
See the girls with the dresses so tight
Give you love if the price is right
Black or white
In the streets there's no wrong and no right
so forget all that you see
It's not reality
It's just a fantasy
Can't you see
What this crazy life is doing to me
Life is just a fantasy
Can you live this fantasy life
Outasite
Buy your kicks from the man in the white
Feels alright
Powder pleasure in your nose tonight
See the men paint their faces and cry
Like some girl it makes you wonder why
City life sure is cool
But It cuts like a knife
It's your life
