$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')ctually the main reason is that no oil has been found deeper than the Jurassic layer (or whatever period it was that the marine creatures were laid down). Soviet scientists claimed they had discovered some in a deep mine in Khazakstan in the 1970s, but that claim has never been substantiated
Once again I suggest you read the Abiotic Oil Thread as it goes through in excruciating detail a number of times what the evidence is....it is many fold. That being said you are wrong in your statement.
There has actually been oil produced from PreCambrian metamorphic rocks. Crystalline basement production occurs in places such as Russia, Indonesia and Egypt. This is often used by the abiotic idiots to claim that this proves non-organic orgin of said oils which couldn't be further from the truth. As I've pointed out on the Abiotic Oil thread there is no case where oil recovered from such old rocks has not been geochemically matched with younger organic rich source rocks that are in juxtaposition. In the case of the FSU examples Gold used to go on and on about the "buried hills" as they were called, comprised of crystalline basement rock are in contact with Mesozoic aged, fully mature source rocks. Geochemical signatures from the oils and the source rocks are identical meaning there is no rationale to invoke abiotic origins.
