$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('HEADER_RACK', 'Y')ou've been aware 3 years and you live in L.A.?!?!

I'm still in LA and have been aware of PO since the summer of 02 or 03, I can't remember which. I think it was 02, so that makes six years for me.

I'm just about to bounce, though. I have one more final exam to go and I'm packing my bags.

LA's great for picking up on teh wimminz though, so you'll have a couple months of that to look forward to.

Welcome, MidwesternMom. How are you doing with all the info you've read so far?

I smiled at your reference to "gathering nuts" for the family - essentially, that's how I see myself, also.

Hello from Georgia

Unread postby Spooky » Tue 10 Jun 2008, 00:44:22

Everything is just peachy here in Georgia. Other than a shortfall on the budget and Higher than normal food prices, you'd think there was no peak oil problems. Electricity is still only 5 cents per KWH. Gas, of course is right at the national average.

There does seem to be a lot of movement on the highways going south, U-haul trucks, moving vans, etc. I guess the Yankees are getting out of the freezer before winter.

Nice to be here.

Welcome aboard, Spooky...I'm from the Atlanta area myself. :)

Just got back from a trip to North Florida...darned right things look peachy up here compared to down there. Florida really is taking it on the chin with the real estate collapse - and the $4 + gas certainly isn't helping matters much.:/

But yeah, the return of extreme heat / drought sure sucks, huh? Damn the midwest for stealing all our rain...lol.

At least we've got two (2) Nuclear Power Plants in the works...coming online in 2016 and 2017...which makes Georgia the first state to license nuke plants in over thirty years. As long as I'm able to keep the AC on, I'm happy...and life around here is even better with having MARTA as my friend. :-D

Seriously though. You couldn't pay me to live in LA and that was before being PO aware. To me it's like the third worse place to be right behind Mexico City and Tokyo. LA seems to me to have a riot when someone farts the wrong way, much less face resource depletion.

Hello from The Netherlands

Unread postby Peakoilpost » Sat 14 Jun 2008, 10:13:21

After a few years following this great website I've decided to become a bit more active.

I'm Hans, living in The Netherlands. I've founded a stock market weblog there 9 years ago and I write columns for NU.nl, the largest news site in The Netherlands. Recently I've started a small, modest portal site about Peak Oil.

Here I hope to learn and discuss more about PO, because it's importance cannot be overestimated. IMO it will change our society sooner rather than later.

Kind regards,

Hans
