$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Pops', 'T')he staff works very hard to make this a place where it's possible to have a decent, adult discussion without stepping on anyone's right to be heard and we sometimes sustain severe bruising hashing out exactly how that should happen.
Not to mention ambushes by some of our less illustrious posters! *giggle*
Pops is right--the reason for this website is to have mature, intelligent discussions on the Peak Oil phenominon(sp?) AND how it is/is going to affect all life on this planet.
Most know this topic is very serious, not to mention a bit maddening at its current slow progress/pace (depending on your views). The effects of Peak Oil are now affecting all walks of life on the whole planet. If you are doing okay, be aware that it moves slowly and WILL get to you.
Just ask those millions on the east coast who have no power, etc. (many of our posters live there) what lessons they are learning. Hurricanes not peak-oil related, you say? What fueled those trucks that brought the plywood and nails? What fuels those hurricane hunter planes? Or got those satellites up in space? What fuels those helicopters making rescues and dropping food? You get my drift? And, now, hurricane Katia looks like she's going to take a similar track.
So, hopefully, you can see why we volunteers work so hard to keep things on track around here. Yes, you can post non-peakoil threads-BUT we'd prefer they have Some tie-in to the website's theme.
And, no, just because someone posts, does NOT mean the site owner makes a bundle of cash. The last I heard, it was a fraction of a penny each time a visitor clicked on a banner ad. Have You contributed?
Finally, every kind thing I can think of to the site's owner for having the foresight to build this site, to my fellow Staff members for the long hours they put in, On A Volunteer Basis to keep this site a place to be proud of, and finally, to all the posters
who add their knowledge and personal experiences, in conversations here, so that others may learn. Quite a remarkable commnuity-if you ask me!!
Lecture/rant over!!
