$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('JohnDenver', 'A')s a cornucopian, I believe we've got most, if not all, of the peak oil bases covered. In fact, I would be surprised if we experienced anything more than an economic rough spot like the 1970s. I think people will comprehend peak oil really quickly when it sinks in. They will realize that the gloves have to come off, and from the standpoint of the Earth Firsters, it's going to look like full scale war on mother nature: Geoengineering, strip mining the ocean floor, well-shooting, artificial moons, massive coal and uranium mining, drilling every remaining pristine refuge, nuking the tar sands, rescinding the dual-hulled tanker standard, poor petroleum-starved people savaging forests for fuel etc. etc.
"Mindsets" aren't going to change, and it's going to be like this picture:

I think there's going to be a lot of disappointment and rage. Peak oil was supposed to usher in the new age, but it just ushered in a new age of even more crass exploitation.
I wonder if this might lead to a spike in ecoterrorism.
I see it in your future.
