Ramen noodles, 17 cents for two 180 calorie servings. that's less than a buck a day per person. Embellish with canned or frozen veggies or other stuff when available.
Storage: shelf life is 18 months. Gotta keep them dry.

The little packet of flavor stuff in there has all of the sodium in it. The noodles themselves are made of some quantity of lard, so not the most nutritious.
