Here's something I don't get about libertarian rugged individuals. If they are so rugged, why do they care what the government does. They should be able to survive anything. If they don't like the taxes imposed on them, or government programs to help the poor (redistribution of wealth

) , why not go to some other country. Or do they believe that the American government owes them something too?
It seems to me that the libertarians are the ultimate collectivists of the most dangerous kind. At least all other collectivist groups have their self interest in mind, so they all try to form a government of their own in order to get the most for their own group. For every such group there will always be an opposing group that will somehow keep the society in balance. But libertarians have decided to band together and form a very ideological kind of a government, the one that forcefully denies everyone everything. They talk about the virtues of austerity.
The government in Germany tried that in the early 30s. I don't think anybody has forgotten how the people responded.
