Just to note again, I pasted those Francis quotes and didn't think that last one could be bogus.

I'm glad Tanada pointed that out. So for this discussion, ignore that last quote pic -- it's made up, he didn't say it, it's not fair to criticize him over it.

So, he did NOT say that.

Otherwise, generally -- yes, Francis rides the line a bit on traditional Catholic teachings. But I've heard priests on tv before, CNN and such, explaining that really he does not veer away from standard teachings if you break it all down, what he's saying.

Francis is a pope with a pastoral background, and he's just doing what a good pastor ought to do -- he doesn't come at people judgmentally, but rather with acceptance. He builds bridges.

And I just like him. That's what a pastor ought to be -- no lear jet and rolls royce, no book deals and mega millions personal profit from the megachurch; Francis is humble, not ego-centric.

He's not a hypocrite, and walks the walk. ANYONE has to respect somebody like that, who is not a hypocrite. Whatever field we're talking about, doesn't have to be religion, it can be politics too -- like Bernie Sanders, and how consistent he has been in his career and life.

Bernie's "walked the walk" too, and never sold out. On working class issues, middle class issues, civil rights, bank regulation, consumer protection, world peace, climate change and the environment.

When the discussion turned religious I referenced the most authoritative text related to Christianity. When it is a matter of law, I reference the Constitution. There are many here who have read neither or only have a vague idea of what is contained within.

When you guys discuss doom, you reference scientific journals or other articles and don't just spout your opinions, which are subject to considerable bias.

The text, in many cases speaks for itself. Since the Catholic Church accepts both Scripture and its Traditions as flawless and inspired of God, there should be no contradictions between the two. IMO when contradictions do occur, one must give way to the other. That is what I am pointing out with some of the Pope's statements.

Pope meets with Bernie Sanders, thanks him for addressing Vatican on the 'moral economy'

Columbia University Professor Jeffrey Sachs told Reuters that the meeting took place in the Vatican guesthouse where the pope lives and where Sanders had spent the night after addressing a Vatican conference on social justice.

The Vatican had said before the conference that a meeting was not planned. Sachs said Sanders, who was accompanied by his wife, and the pope spoke for about five minutes. Sachs, his wife and a Vatican official were also in the room.

Sachs, who has advised the United Nations on climate change, said Sanders thanked the pope for his pronouncements on the need for morality in the global economy and statements in defense of the environment.

"The pope thanked the senator for coming to the meeting and for coming to speak about the moral economy," Sachs said.

Asked if the meeting could be interpreted as political, Sachs said: "This was absolutely not political. This is a senator who for decades has been speaking about the moral economy."

Hillary Clinton could lose New York and still get more delegates than Bernie in New York. Sanders is not going to be the nominee. Its not even a close thing. Establishment democrats, who comprise the bulk of the super-delegates, are not going to switch to Bernie.

The best way for those Dems to maintain power and wealth is to stay with an establishment Dem and not a socialist who is wanting to break up the big banks, destroy the private health insurance industry, and tax everyone out the wazoo.
