My family goes to work everyday, pays their taxes, and has a basic respect for the law. There are sizable demographics who do none of those things. They aren't my family and I don't consider some of them even human beings.

You want to know why the average joe is pissed off? He has been lied to by career politicians. He sees a large percentage of the population who only consumes without producing, and he is tired of being blamed for all the ills of every special snowflake group that has a grudge against white males.

Balkanization? Where'd you get that notion? Multicultural just what you envision; the incorporation of ideas, beliefs and people from many different countries and cultural backgrounds. Equal respect without discrimination.

To an extent. Trump seems to be tapping into angry white, uneducated racists, bigots, xenophobes, homophobes, and misogynists for his support. Those folks aren't on Bernie's side to any degree measurable.

What I think both camps have is an ignorance of the workings of government and what elected leaders can achieve in a divided Congress in a divided country without a super majority.

Multiculturalism asserts a coexistence ethic. Where the African guy wears the round hat, and the Chinese girl has the Mao uniform, and the Anglo Scottsman in the kilt, and they all tolerate/respect/whatever "the other". I think this is corrosive. It attaches some ownership of a piece of foreign culture based on the pre-immigration source of a particular human that has likely never been or been a part of that foreign culture. I don't think this is a good goal, and I don't think it can ever encourage equality or peaceful harmony. I simply do not accept the existence of "the other". There is no "other"; there is only human, and in the cultural context, the goal should not be to have a government that rules over thirty different, distinct, separate cultures; but rather a single culture that is NOT a copy or even simple combination of foreign cultures should be encouraged and pursued as the goal. Not an Anglo culture, not a Nigerian culture, not an Indian(Asian) culture. An American culture, top to bottom. This does not imply everyone dresses the same, it does imply that no particular human has any greater or lesser claim to any facet of that indigenous culture based upon who their parents were or where their great great grandparents came from.

Put simply. From my philosophical point of view, racism and multiculturalism are both evils of near equal magnitude and they both need deleting from human thought.

They are reacting to the reality that coronating either Jeb¡ or HC would be perpetuating the same corrupt system that has enabled trickle-up to cut their legs out from under.

No doubt they have different ideological knee-jerks, but I think everyone senses that "we" are no longer in control.

Agent, you seem to think this can still happen perhaps. Well if the US can "integrate" everyone into one why not the planet. I agree with your basic points, we need to see each other as the same as human. Well are not those who live outside our boundaries also human. Now I understand as an actual practical matter it is too late for that, certain regions seem destined for die-off and the US cannot take in everybody. So I take it that you simply do not include everyone else because of this real world reality and not because somehow others in other places cannot integrate all things being equal.

That stew takes time to make, as we have seen from the diversity of immigrants early in the US history blending into a rich cultural diversity of Americans. For most of history, that diversity was dominated by whites. That will soon not be the case. So, I 'm not sure what you are driving at.

But a mono culture borne of this diversity that is unique? Might as well try to get all the animals on the Ark to be Zebras for the voyage.

But, unless someone grants them dictatorial power, they still have the same system of checks and balances to deal with. The system isn't changing unless we abolish or amend the Constitution and change the rules that cause Congressional gridlock. Bernie needs a revolution behind him to govern. Trump needs to be crowned King to govern.

No, the plutocrats and oligarchs are in control. Americans are now beginning to pay the price for sleeping through history classes, ignoring important information in the alternative media and neglecting to participate in their own political process. That's kinda my point, if both "sides" decided they are being played against each other by the ownership and that the typical representative isn't representing, things can change. Pretty obviously Rs are unhappy, Ds not so much in general, yet.
