No, Giant Farms Are Not Feeding the World. They’re Feeding Canada.

No, Giant Farms Are Not Feeding the World. They’re Feeding Canada. thumbnail

If you’ve followed debates around US agriculture over the past decade, you’ve surely heard it: Our industrial-scale farms may pollute and overuse water, foul air, destroy soil, harm local economies, and abuse workers, but that’s just the cost of providing a crucial humanitarian service: feeding the world. The GMO seed/pesticide giants Monsanto and DuPont make versions of this argument; so has USDA secretary Tom Vilsack, the California Farm Bureau and American Soybean Association. But can US exports really help “feed the hungry and malnourished in developing nations around the world,” as the industry-funded site Facts About GMOs puts it?

A new report from Environmental Working Group basically destroys that claim. Here’s the key takeaway, in a single chart:

Environmental Working Group

The left side of the chart sums up the top 20 foreign destinations of of US food exports last year, accounting for 86 percent of total US food exports that year. Here they are:

So, most of the countries that buy lots of US-grown food—and especially the ones at the top of the list—are highly developed (based on UN measures of life expectancy, income and level of education) and have low hunger rates.

Meanwhile, the 19 nations with the biggest and most dire hunger problems import very little food from the United States—they accounted for a whopping 0.5 percent of total US agricultural exports in 2015, EWG reports. Even accounting for food aid, the great US ag behemoth contributes very little to feeding the poorest of the world’s nations. This chart depicts how much the world’s most hunger-plagued countries rely on US food exports as a percentage of their total food supply. Takeaway: not very much.

So why are our food exports largely bypassing the world’s poor? The answer lies in the first chart above. Note that about half of our exports to the top 20 destinations are either meat and dairy or livestock feed, and meat is a luxury product. As EWG puts it, “most agricultural exports from the United States go to countries whose citizens can afford to pay for them.”

There’s a lot to be done to alleviate hunger as global population grows and climate change continues to wreak havoc on agriculture. But growing loads of soybeans in Iowa or almonds in California is largely irrelevant to those challenges.

Can Texas Legally Secede From the United States?

The secessionist movement has a long history in the Lone Star State. Delegates for the Texas Republican Party even recently debated adding secessionist language to the party’s platform.

“Three out of five Trump voters in the Lone Star State would back secession if the Democrat wins, a new poll finds.”

That’s exactly why we need a European army. And Texas is not the only state with this sentiment.

“Talk of succession in N America is absurd. In fact Mexico, Canada and the US are dependent on each other. In spite of a small percentage of Trump racist voters froth the vast majority of Americans hold Canidians and Mexicans in high reguard.”

Boat, you are a fascinating fellow, you really are.

Succession? Are you saying that the US has been a closet monarchy all along?

I am not aware that this election is about a sympathy contest for Canadians or Mexicans. The issue is of giving your country away to strangers. The Canadians aren’t coming in the first place, but the Mexicans do in large numbers. And the Hillarator has made it clear that she couldn’t care less about American identity. Everybody with a US passport is an American, basta, the typical commie egalitarian view as promoted by the resident NWO gang of three: ghung, apneagirl and boat. The Texans want to keep their cowbow country, while the Mexicans opt for a Manyana country.

NASA: Megadrought Lasting Decades Is 99% Certain in American Southwest

“Rising temperatures will combine with decreased rainfall in the Southwest to create droughts that will be worse than the historic “Dust Bowl” of the 20th century and last far longer. The Dust Bowl lasted no longer than eight years, and affected 100 million acres around the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles and adjacent lands in Kansas, Colorado and New Mexico. Dust storms swept through large swaths of former farmland, depositing dust as far east as Chicago, New York and Washington. It is estimated that more than half a million people were made homeless, and some 3.5 million Dust Bowl refugees migrated west, in hopes of finding work.”

Boat, let’s not fool each other:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas#Demographics

“Real Texans” constitute merely 45% of the Lone Star state. If it is up to the Hillator this number will decline significantly further, to ensure that change is irreversible.

And stop this pious drivel about ”just want to work”. Demography is destiny. If you live there, you own it. Immigration means giving your country away, one man at a time. Go ask the Indians, they know all about it.

Texas high school with $60M football stadium one-upped by rival’s $70M facility

“The Eagles of Allen High School’s 18,000-seat, $60 million stadium has been one-upped — at least in cost — by its competitor, McKinney Independent School District.
McKinney ISD announced it will construct a $70 million football stadium.

“Most Americans don’t give a shyt what you think in Europe”

Most Americans are famous for not giving shit about anything.

Wasn’t talking about the American public though, but the establishment, who might misjudge that they won’t be able to drag Europe in a war against Russia.

If there is a real threat for the planet to be blown up, some unexpected things could happen. Like regime change in unexpected places. Perhaps the war planners think they can provoke regime change in Moscow if they increase pressure enough; perhaps they are even correct.

But remember establishment folks: Russia + China IS NOT North-Vietnam and you didn’t even win that one. Meanwhile the US army has a distinct third world smell about it.

On top of that: Russia + Iran (Gulf entrance) control nearly 100% of the fossil fuel flow to Europe, that is irreplacible. This severely limits the options for the EU. Helping attacking Russia via it soil is an extremely stupid idea. If NATO forces cross the Russian border, Russia can attack them with small nukes.

The Western cards are very weak. Yes they probably can get rid of Russia from Syria in air-to-air combat. And then what? Let IS win? Erdogan would love it.

Let’s be real: the western establishment is broadcasting negative subliminal messages of despair. Their end is near. Let’s give them a worthy funeral.

How Donald Trump Won Over Europe’s Right-Wing Xenophobes

“Don’t blame me if I say I hope that Donald J. Trump will win,” says Dutch ethno-nationalist leader Geert Wilders.>/b>

…..Among Trump’s fans across the pond are National Front founder Jean-Marie Le Pen, whom has been fined in France for “inciting racial hatred;” Dutch Party for Freedom founder Geert Wilders, who has likened the Koran to Mein Kampf; and far-right Belgian politician Filip Dewinter, who spoke on the “Islamization of Europe” at the May conference of American Renaissance, a white nationalist group. Far-right leaders in Russia, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Slovenia, Sweden, Italy, and Greece have also endorsed or praised Trump. Golden Dawn, the ultra-right-wing Greek nationalist party, made a pro-Trump video starring neo-Nazis. The Trump campaign has not publicly disavowed any of these endorsements.

Trump has at times rubbed shoulders with some of his controversial European supporters. In April, leading Italian right-wing politician Matteo Salvini, who has praised the “good work” of fascist Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, tweeted a photo of himself posing with the candidate at a Trump campaign rally. Farage and Wilders, the Dutch nationalist, traveled to Cleveland in July to attend the Republican National Convention’s Trumpalooza…..”

  27. Cloggie on Fri, 7th Oct 2016 10:40 pm

Yeah ghungwhatever… in the thirties not a single European country fell for communism, although it was close in Germany, thanks to the desolate situation because of Versailles, caused by F, UK and USA. But the twins US and USSR prevailed because they together managed to play D and UK/F out against each other because oof a secret understanding between Roosevelt, Churchill and Stalin since 1934.

Now 80 years later, Europe is again resisting communism, this time of a racial nature, imposed under the pretext of socalled refugees, by the Soros types.

But now the situation is entirely different and the US has far worse cards.

    1. The US sanhedrin can no longer count on the good services of the USSR that did 80% of the heavy lifting between 1941-1945.
    2. China has meanwhile massively increased in strength and has no illusions about the intentions of the US and seeks to challenge the US hegemonic aspirations
    3. On top of that, in the 21st century, the role of the Navy, the major former US trump card, has been sharply reduced because of the rise of super-sonic missiles, making sitting ducks out of these slow-moving targets.
    4. In 1941 the US was a young country, full with optimism and strength and a coherent white population. Today the aging white population is deeply demoralized because of the prospect of a darkening America.
    5. The post-WW2 military track-record is mediocre, to say the least: Korea, Vietnam, Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan, nothing impressive really, showing where the US is most vulnerable: boots on the ground. And everybody knows it.
    6. Has the US any real allies? Poland, Micronesia, Baltic States, Ukraine, sure. Can the US sick Germany and France in a ground war against Russia and China? Not without a very good reason and bringing IS to victory in Syria is definately not a good reason.
    7. Russia + Iran control nearly all the fossil fuel supply to Europa, that can’t be fully replaced by Norway. Europe simply can’t afford a long term conflict with SCO. Russia will immediately halt all supplies to Europe if the latter won’t remain neutral and Russia will reserve supplies for the Russian-Chinese war effort.
    8. Turkey knows that the US secretly supported the failed coup. Turkey has quietly changed course under Erdogan and no longer expects a European future and instead aspires expansionism in the Islamic world, to begin with in Syria and is supported by KSA and the smaller Gulf states, who are all afraid of Iran. Turkey knows it can get away with an invasion into Syria if Russia retreats under pressure of NATO, under the pretext of getting rid of IS. But it won’t be a walkover, now that Russia has delivered very sophisticated missiles to Assad. Furthermore, Erdogan is not keen on a largescale conflict with Iran and a comprimise will likely be found in a partitioning of Syria, so Assad can keep a secular rump state in the West, as long as Turkey and KSA can connect via the Sunni parts of Syria and Iraq.

USA coming out of this conflict as the global hegemon? Don’t make me laugh. It will drive Europe into the arms of Eurasia because of dependencies in energy and raw materials. Once Russia and China are in conflict with US, Europa can safely do so and begin to push itself as the guardian of the interest of European-America and so drive a wedge between the Euro’s and the sanhedrin and encourage secession and the end of America.

Look up the rest of the details.

Perfect timing by the international media.

“Revelation:” Trump is an untamed sex machine, although he (perhaps) is not a serial rapist like Bill Clinton.

I think it is still by far not as bad as this unintended video where Hillary Clinton shows here real murderous intentions:

Look, we all know that both these character’s running the presidential election circus, are not mother’s finest.

Trump is a horny, bragging, impulsive, materialist asshole, all true.

But Clinton will continue to follow orders from the Soros/Fed/CFR/Wallstreet sanhedrin and continue to attempt to run the entire world in a single power structure, run by the self-chosen and lead us straight into WW3.

    Give me Trump, any time.

America’s time is up. The only remaining question is how to take apart the US empire with the least amount of damage, hopefully like the taking apart of the Soviet empire. No guarantees though, because taking apart a multiracial empire will almost certainly result in more bloodshed than abolishing a useless leftist economic system.

  35. Davy on Sat, 8th Oct 2016 6:31 am

I think this race is wide open. Both candidates are so loathed by so many it is anyone’s guess how these people will vote. When you ask people to vote for their least despised candidate strange things happen. Many times it is a “ini mini miny mo” type decision. Sometimes it is a “let’s try a change” just to see what happens. You have your hardcore supporters on both sides but this race will be decided by negativity and apathy.

I am not going to vote but if I would it would be Trump. The corruption of the Clinton and the establishment that supports her is absolutely astounding. This goes all the way to the Top with a lying president and compromised DOJ and FBI. What makes me think this country is almost finished is the power and money behind Hillary and the lies, corruption, and manipulation surrounding all of it. Governments do not last long when they get to this point. This is global too but in the US it is especially dangerous because of the systematic hypocrisy. The constitution and the foundational basis for the United States is being completely compromised. It is different if the government is understood to be corrupt like say Nigeria it is quite another thing for a nation to be built on certain ideas and the nemesis assumes control.

  36. Ghung on Sat, 8th Oct 2016 11:22 am

Davy said; “I think this race is wide open. Both candidates are so loathed by so many it is anyone’s guess how these people will vote….”

I can’t find a single scientific poll that indicates that Trump’s chances are “wide open”. While, pre-pussygate, Clinton held a 4-5 point lead nationally, the electoral college picture puts her far ahead:

    http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016-election-forecast/?ex_cid=2016-forecast.

As I said, that was before this new mess, and other polls/methods agree. Trump’s chances just went poof, and, unless he quits on his own, the RNC is stuck with this psychopath (“Rule 9”). He’s stated he IS NOT stepping down. “Absolutely”. Some RNC members and Republicans are now urging their base to write in Pence. Either way…..

I may not vote for President. Absolutely can’t support Trump on anything, and, as I have daughters and grand-daughters, this latest just emphasises that. I may bite the bullet for Clinton ONLY because she may nominate a Supreme Court justice that will help overturn Citizens United, perhaps the most damaging decision the Court has ever made, at least in modern times.

As for Cloggie and Mak: One is a far-right eurofag xenophobe and the other an angry deluded expat nobody, neither of who I have an ounce respect for. I can’t get either to STFU, but can shun them and/or call them out on their cowardice.

Meanwhile, mainstream Republicans continue to dump Trump. Their political careers depend on it. The best they can hope for now is to salvage congressional/senate seats. A GOP implosion wouldn’t surprise me at all. As for now, they look like fucking idiots.

If she gets elected after all she has done then you can expect anything as possible. What about all the people who have died in the vicinity of Hillary’s corruption? “Meanwhile, Sen. John Thune of South Dakota, the No. 3 Senate Republican and a member of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s inner circle, called on Trump to drop out so that Pence can be the GOP standard-bearer.”

Can’t help noticing that our resident NWO adherents are angry tonight, like cornered animals.

But tell me ghung…. you said earlier that “we” (can only mean the US) are losing WW3 (can only mean confrontation US-SCO).

I have already told you my forecast (wet dream PBM).

Now what is your vision for the world after Washington will have lost WW3.

In all earnest I am interested to know.

“Only a complete fucking retard would spend money to vacation in one of the most storied cities on the planet but bring his e-device and spend half his time machine gun commenting and linking on peakoil.com. Old dutch simply cannot take a vacation from schooling the boys. ”

    Ghung made similar comment.

Apparently, both my favorite NWO opponents have yet to grasp the idea that the world is not flat and that local time here is meanwhile near 21:00, meaning a time when museums, Mosque, ferries, bussen etc., are closed.

Now that not even China is commie anymore, neither economic nor racial, you really have to look hard for some of these commie dinosaurs to make fun of. Thank God, they still can be found on this “obscure blog” and I gladly reserve some time for exchanges with them, for some good fun.

    ghung,

“Three more sitting Republican legislators, 3 Senators, have just denounced Trump and are urging their constituents to not vote for President”

Tip of the iceberg I suspect. Republican leaders will all be forced to respond. In blue and split states they will have to fist condemn Trumps sexist rant then explain to women why they should vote for them. Checking congressional polls in a week will be interesting.
