In an indication of “a great power struggle over control of the Middle East,” the United States is deploying about 400 ground troops to Egypt, a military analyst told Press TV.
“The U.S. does not want to lose Syria and Egypt,” Michael Burns said on Tuesday.
The troops have been training for months at Fort Hood, Texas in anticipation of anti-government protests in Egypt and the possibility of having to protect the country’s border with Israel.
The U.S. soldiers will be joining troops from 12 other nations to guard posts and security checkpoints along the Sinai Peninsula to respond to any peace treaty violations between Egypt and Israel.
“We have an enormous influence by the Israeli lobby in this country,” that drives key policy decisions in Washington, Burns said.
Burns slammed what he called the “skullduggery” of U.S. foreign policy which is “engorging in a feast of war upon war.”
A spokesman of the Egyptian armed forces has confirmed the deployment of U.S. troops to Egypt, according to Ahram Online.
The opposition in Egypt continues to clash with supporters of President Mohamed Morsi and plans mass protests on June 30.
The Egyptian president has called for dialogue with the opposition in order to forge a roadmap and eliminate the existing disagreements in the country.

If past performance is any indicator of future results, I would hardly call the aftermath of American military intervention ‘control’. The word chaos is what comes to mind. With a large dose of bloodshed.

More weapons sold … more profit for the MIC. More people dead, but then there are about 6+ billion of us that they consider ‘expendable’.

400? That’s about Somalia strength. But who needs Egypt? The US can deploy thousands in 48 hours. Meanwhile Assad keeps consolidating his position, a huge ship full with arms for the foreign mercenaries has broken in two in the middle of the Indian Ocean and if you want political asylum these days, you have to go to Russia to escape Foxnews/Donald Trump’s would be assassination squad.
For the NSA employee who reads this: please walk to the window overseeing the parking lot and notice an amateur drone making video pictures of all the license plates, soon to be listed on a server in Malaysia, where crowd sourcing will do the rest. Cheerio!

Even Obama isn’t stupid enough to get the US military involved in Egypt……….is he?

Brezinsky hits the nail with his assessment off the situation in the ME.
“Why did we all of a sudden decide that Syria had to be destabilized and its government overthrown?… the notion, shared by some Israeli right-wingers, that Israel’s strategic prospects are best served if all of its adjoining neighbors are destabilized. I happen to think that is a long-term formula for disaster for Israel, because its byproduct, if it happens, is the elimination of American influence in the region, with Israel left ultimately on its own”
Bingo. Palestine has been a Ottoman province for centuries and that will happen again once the oil wells in the ME run dry and everybody loses interest in the region except Turkey.

The Muslim ‘Dome on the Rock’ must be destroyed before the Jewish ‘Messiah’ will reside on Earth. The motivation goes far beyond power, greed and oil.
