Every country needs to develop a plan to diversify its energy types and become more energy self sufficient. There is no silver bullet to energy self sufficiency. Conservation, energy efficiency and a combination of alternative energy sources like wind, solar and second generation biofuels can help. Economic security and national security will depend on safe, clean reliable energy for the future.
