Kunstler: The Deep State Blues
Lest you wonder, not only did I not vote for Mr. Trump (or Hillary), but I relished heaping opprobrium on him during the election campaign. Just so you know, I’m not advocating for him, but I’m alarmed that the Deep State (the White House + the Intel Agency gang) now appears to be trying to hack the electoral college vote against him.
The headline deployed everywhere last week, “Russia Hacks Election,” was designed by the Deep State players to deviously lead the broadly dim public to think that Russia somehow interfered with the balloting process, which was not possible since voting machines are not hooked up to the internet. And then it was repeated endlessly by the cable news networks and the newspapers, under the number one rule of propaganda: that if you repeat something often enough, the public will swallow it.
This dishonest meme was also designed to distract the public from the substance of the emails disclosed by WikiLeaks — namely, the scamming and trickery of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), and the influence-peddling of Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation, which had her flirting with indictment last summer, and only reinforced her already-established public image as an unscrupulous person.
The New York Times especially worked the “Russia Hacks Election” story to a fare-the-well, saying in its Sunday edition:
The Central Intelligence Agency has concluded that Moscow put its thumb on the scale for Mr. Trump through the release of hacked Democratic emails, which provided fodder for many of the most pernicious false attacks on Mrs. Clinton on social media.
False attacks? What, that Hillary’s cronies put the DNC’s “thumb on the scale” against Bernie Sanders? That Donna Brazille gave Hillary debate questions beforehand? That as Secretary of State Hillary gave more face-time to foreign supplicants based on their contributions to the Clinton Foundation, and expedited arms deals for especially big givers? That she collected millions in speaking fees for sucking up to Too-Big-To-Fail bankers? That The Times and The WashPo and CNN reporters were taking direction from Hillary’s PR operatives?
Consider, too, how the Deep State “Russia Hacks Election” meme was ramped up to top volume coincidentally the week before the electoral college vote, as a last-ditch effort was launched by the old-line media, the diehard Hillary partisans, and a bunch of Hollywood celebrities, to persuade electoral college delegates to switch their votes to deprive Trump of his election victory.
President Obama did his bit to amplify the message by coloring Russian President Vladimir Putin as being behind the so-called hacking because “not much happens in Russia without, you know, Vladimir Putin,” just like not much happened in old Puritan New England without the involvement of Old Scratch. So now we have an up-to-date Devil figure to stir the paranoid imaginations of an already divided and perturbed public.
Hillary and her supporters have vehemently asserted that “seventeen intelligence agencies” agree with the assessment that Russia hacked the election. It might be greater news to the American people to hear that there actually are seventeen such agencies out there. Perhaps Mrs. Clinton or Mr. Obama might explain exactly what they are beyond the CIA, the FBI, the DIA, the NSA, and DHS. Personally, I feel less secure knowing that there are so many additional surveillance services sifting through everybody’s digital debris trail.
There’s been some chagrin among more prudent observers that neither the various Intel gang chiefs, including James Clapper, overall Director of National Intelligence, nor the White House have provided a shred of evidence that WikiLeaks got the Hillary emails from the Russians. One might even suppose that we discovered the hack by hacking the Russians, perhaps even Mr. Putin’s personal iPhone — but, wait a minute… we don’t intrude on other nations’ business. We don’t use the internet to spy (!) on anybody.
It will be interesting to see how Mr. Trump gets along with the Intel gang when (and if) he actually makes it into the oval office. It’s nice to think that he will fire a bunch of them, and then fire a bunch more, and maybe take a good hard look at these seventeen security and surveillance agencies and maybe shut a few of them down. In the meantime, their activity begins to look like the attempted coup d’état I warned about a few months ago.
Forgive me for changing the subject so briskly, but there was another front page piece in The New York Times on Sunday that kind of said it all about where that Old Gray Lady’s collective head is at these days. Behold this quote from the story What Women Really Think of Men:
As the country prepares to revert to white male rule, our common condition for all but eight of the last 240 years, we should think harder about why we assume so little of men, including ones we may be married to. Too many men don’t prove those expectations wrong, and are rewarded anyway with prizes like the presidency.

Good to see that Kunstler embraces the “deep state” meme, indicating that there is a power-behind-the-screens, that decides what happens in the US and now has been sidelined by an outsider.

Still not entirely clear what has the deep state so incensed. The ‘trump regime’ is already being stacked with pentagon and wall st. insiders. The pentagon, is even better represented than usual, and the rest are catchall of climate deniers and neo-liberals of all stripes.
What is even less clear, or being made less clear, is the real agenda of those still trying to push killary into the WH. If her mentor barack-I have-a-drone-obomber is anything to go by, I have no idea what it is they hollyjewood and the rest of the ‘liberal intelligentsia’ think shillary is meant to accomplish. Barak, despite his well-kept and dignified outward appearance and mild, easy-going demeanor, managed to deliver everything that the military, wall st, and the neo-liberal elites wanted. This is what endeared barack so much to them. That they could do whatever they wished, and get obomber to say and do whatever they wanted him to.
Under brand ‘obama’, the deep state, found they could literally get away with murder. They absolutely love him. They were looking forward to 8 more years of this with shillary taking up residence in the ceremonial palace. But coming back to my earlier point, brand obama didn’t deliver ONE thing, besides a pleasing baritone and media-friendly optics, to so-called ‘liberals’, or their causes.

Here in Canada, the CBC and other corporate media also repeat the same claims endlessly, and w/o a hint of scepticism. Im sure the same is true in the rest of the free-world order as well. Whether you live in the UK, or Germany, or lichtenstein, it is a safe bet, everyone is hearing the same tall-tale over and over.

Hund, he is the same and at the same time different. I feel the guy is smart. If you are going to take the deep state down a notch or two you need insiders. This is a soft coup. Not that if matters to many here because what they are looking for is something you are not going to find in the US hence the Trump criticism.
Trump is going to chart a new course and the course is unpredictable. The current establishment is loath for an outsider to take control. Trump is part of the corrupt system but taking it in a new direction. That direction appear to be nationalist and politically incorrect per the establishment. When I say establishment I mean domestic and international. This is a global establishment anxiety not just American
America will never be great again nor will any nation. We are all swirling down the vortex of decline. It is more a matter of placement. This is likely going to be an amazing process that happens over a time frame most are caught off guard by. I think civilization still has a lot of rope to hang itself with.
This collapse process could drag on for years if we have a Russian detente. I say that becuase any type of biggish hot global war is game over for globalism. I am not sure how this budding Chinese Cold War will play out. I think we all should now be looking in that direction. This could be very dangerous to global economics. Somehow I feel China and the US will not take this new Cold War too far becuase of economics. We are not out of the woods yet with a Russian/US conflict but there is optimism. This is a new direction for different insiders under the banner of a wild card we call Trump.

Next he claimed his ancestors to be “Canadian”, which only makes sense if they were Ice Age gate crashers, meaning Asians. But he rejects that. So it is probably 25% Korean, 25% Jewish and 25% Bantu.
Now I would never make a point of somebody’s ancestry (this site is about the somewhat stale topic of peak oil, not genealogy), unless he himself makes a point of somebody else his ancestry, invariably in a demeaning way and attacking western (European) civilization wherever he can, acting as an invisble coward sniper. And only then it becomes interesting what his own background is, just to reign him in a little, not to humiliate all these fine diverse ethnicity’s humanity consists of.
Back on topic, I agree with Davy’s assessment. It is way to early to judge Trump. He is not (yet) a Putin who can do as he pleases. The only capital he has is the passionate support from European America (and potentially their guns). For the moment he is a civic nationalist and still kisses black babies and praises his Mexican workforce, but nevertheless at least wants to halt the demographic decline of the Euro’s, as his lily-white electorate expects him to do.
Most people are opportunists and Kunstler is no exception. Before the election he lamented “where is the deep state when you need it?”, a very nasty remark, hinting at a desired execution. Now that Trump won, Kunstler changed course and will refrain from these kind of remarks in the future.
Trump, who can count to ten, knows that China is the coming #1 power and that the US global empire is a pipe dream. So the logical next step is to make an inventory of potential allies. Enter Putin, Europe already is an ally (vassal really). Trump is even embarrassed by this vassal behavior of Europe and would like them to do more for their own defense (read: wants these lasy a**holes to escape from the comfy vassal status).
What Trump does is like what Britain did, that reigned supreme in the 19th century, like America did in the 20th century, but by 1891 had concluded that Germany was the rising power that began to eclipse Britain on global markets and that they needed to do something about it, namely buddy up with the adversary #1 of 1000 years (France) as well as Russia. The British exaggerated this sensible precaution by aiming to use this coalition, to not only balance but also destroy Germany, ruining Europe future as well as their own for at least a century.
Trump has no ambition to destroy China, but he does resent the free pass the globalist Washington establishment gave to China over the past decades by transfering most of the US industry to China in the anticipation of a global codependency and division of labor where China would do the cheap basic manifacturing and exceptionalist Washington the governing, completely ignoring the interests of their voters. And now the chickens have come home to roost. Trump intends to return a lot of that industry to America to employ the US unemployed. Trump wants to concentrate resources on polishing up America and its infrastructure and is less interested in destroying foreign dragons. The very rise of China of 1350 million will dictate the rise of “Europsphere”, a counter-alliance of European-America, Europe and Russia. The US establishment will attempt to sabotage that program as they will remain programmed to bring the entire world into the hands of the Self-Chosen. Not going to happen. The best they can achieve is recapturing America and have to compete in a multi-polar world. Exactly the vision of Geroge Orwell…
