ISIS ‘Only Few Kilometers’ From Assad

Islamic State has taken control of 90 percent of a Palestinian refugee camp on the Damascus outskirts where 18,000 civilians have suffered years of bombing, army siege and militia control, a monitoring group said on Saturday.

The hardline group’s offensive in Yarmouk gives it a major presence in the capital. Islamic State, the most powerful insurgent group in Syria, is now only a few kilometers from President Bashar al-Assad’s seat of power.

The United Nations has said it is extremely concerned about the safety and protection of Syrians and Palestinians in the camp. Civilians trapped there have long suffered a government siege that has led to starvation and disease.

“The situation in Yarmouk is an affront to the humanity of all of us, a source of universal shame,” U.N. Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) spokesman Chris Gunness said.

“Yarmouk is a test, a challenge for the international community. We must not fail. The credibility of the international system itself is at stake,” he said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which monitors the conflict from Britain, said Syrian air force jet bombed the camp on Saturday.

The Islamic State on Wednesday launched an attack on other groups of fighters in Yarmouk, in particular Aknaf Beit al-Maqdis, an anti-Assad militia of Syrians and Palestinians from the camp.

Islamic State supporters posted photos on social media of the severed heads of two men they said had been beheaded after fighting for Aknaf Beit al-Maqdis.

The Observatory said Islamic State and al Qaeda’s official Syria wing, the Nusra Front, made gains overnight, pushing into the northeast of the district, close to central Damascus. They now control 90 percent of the camp, it said.

Tayseer Abu Baker, head of the Palestinian Liberation Front in Syria, part of the Palestine Liberation Organization, told Reuters over the phone that Islamic State had killed 21 people including fighters and civilians since Friday.

“Some families are trying to exit the camp but with Islamic State snipers on rooftops of high buildings that is very difficult,” he said. He added Islamic State had kidnapped at least 74 people from the camp and that civilians were trying to flee.

Reuters cannot independently verify reports in Syria due to security and reporting restrictions.

Islamic State rules swathes of eastern Syria and Iraq and is the target of a U.S.-led campaign of air strikes.

Yarmouk was home to half a million Palestinians before the Syrian conflict began in 2011. The was has killed 220,000 people and displaced millions.

Government officials could not be reached for comment. Syria’s state news agency SANA said terrorists in the camp had prevented aid from reaching civilians. It added the army had encircled Yarmouk

Since the UN has done such a great job of protecting the refugees in the Yarmouk camp, its no wonder that Obama thinks we can count on them to verify that Iran isn’t continuing their work on nuclear weapons.

Plantagenet, Iran has as much right to nukes as Israel. Nukes keep bullies like Israel and the US out of their country. Think North Korea. There is no proof that the Saudis don’t have them also. They certainly have American nukes in country under the wings of the US Air Force planes that land there.

Iran has no reason to use a nuke except in self defense. It has all the resources it needs to trade for what it wants, if the US would stop trying to make it a subject colony.

We are in for a “hot” summer and who knows what will happen before 2016 arrives? I sure don’t. The flock of black swans is blocking out the sun.

Makster did you talk to a US general that told you visiting American planes carried nukes? What a moron. That was a big slip up even for the Makster. You been reading too much Global Research dodo.

I need to see Plant’s posts occasionally because I’m usually not aware of all the issues that can be blamed on one US president. It must be a lot of work for President Obama doing all of these terrrible things being only a Kenyan, communist, America hating, muslim, quisling, Neville Chamberlain style surrender monkey.

Davy, perhaps you are not getting enough real news from outside the UFSA MSM Iron Curtain? If you think the US doesn’t have nukes on most, if not all, of their bases around the world you are very naive. Well, maybe you are, come to think of it. Where do you think they are? In some bunker in the center of the UFSA?

There are UFSA nuke carrying planes in the air 24/7/365 unless they have drastically changed their previous system. Not likely in their paranoid, terrorist, warmongering mindset of today.

Would you like a list of the sites I read regularly? It is quite extensive, and few are in the UFSA. I want real news, not propaganda and lies.

Numb-nut, the US has a strategic air component to its triad. NUK devises are being transported in isolated situations in this regards especially in training especially over North America. You can be sure they are not bopping around the world making port calls.

If you were not such a numb-nut and uneducated with NUK warfare you would understand most of the NUK weapons outside the US are on bases in Europe or on ships within and part of task forces. This means I am sure Bahrain has some. Makster, your last comment said US NUK’s are on planes making port calls which is idiocy. The most dangerous form of transporting NUK’s is by air. There is no reason for it.

Makster, you and your worn out, redundant, and agenda puke “UFSA MSM Iron Curtain? Cat Piss. Can’t you get more creative then childishly blurting that out whenever someone call you out on a stupid statement? IMA statements that are routine flatus from that orifice in your head.
