Isis claims responsibility for deadly suicide attack on Baghdad gas plant thumbnail

Militants have launched a suicide attack on a natural gas plant near the Iraqi capital Baghdad, killing at least 11 people and injuring a dozen more.

During the assault, which extremist militant group Isis said it had carried out, a car was blown up at the entrance to the facility approximately 20km north of Baghdad.

Six people then entered the site with explosive vests and fought security officers, the Reuters news agency reported. Three gas storage tanks were set on fire during the fighting.

Flames and smoke could be seen billowing from the facility.

Never mess around with an apocalyptic cult. They’re not rational and negotiations are problematic. Most actors in civil wars that involve resources usually don’t destroy energy infrastructure. That’s because it is the energy and infrastructure that they’re fighting over. Algerian civil war is a good example; lots of mayhem alround but not a lot of pipelines got blown up. That’s because the pipelines were part of the prize being fought over. Apocalyptic death cults aren’t so bothered about that though. Like Samson they will pull the temple walls down upon their own heads in order to destroy their enemy. Makes negotiations tough. ISIS is a collapse cult brought about by the destruction of a society. So were the Boxers in the Boxer Rebellion, so was the Ghost Dance Movement, so were the Nazi’s as a result of the collapse of the German Empire. Closer to home The Tea Party (and now the entire Republican Party) is a collapse cult. As societies collapse nihilist death cults that preach a return to ancient ways and better times (actually mythologies that never existed) will become more prevelance. Watch for it. Don’t get sucked in. Stay the fuck oughtta shit, and you might make it out the other side.

Survivalist, if the US, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and maybe Israel stopped funding them and supplying weapons, the ISIS fad would end quickly, as Russia has proved.

The Us wants ISIS to exist. If there are no “enemies” to fight, the Us has to create them so it can sell weapons and justify it’s plundering of the world’s resources.

Truth, my intelligence is so far above yours that there is no measurement possible as can be noted from your comment. kindergarten dropout? I enjoy dropping down to the retarded level sometimes to put them in their place. Think, if you can. Then come back with something adult and insightful*.

*Simple Definition of insightful: having or showing a very clear understanding of something : having or showing insight

Of course the USlamic state claimed responsibility. They’re everywhere dont you know, Europe, Asia, Africa, Middle East, except Israel, the US itself, Jordan, and the rest of the GCC. There are probably some of them under your bed right now, waiting to lop off some pointy amerikannn heads.

But not to worry, if you are a uS oil corporation, bank, IMF, Israeli, GCC, any other major uS corporation, a western bank, anyone in, or attached to that group, you’re totally safe from ‘ISIS’.

That ‘gas plant’ is a legitimate target see? Its state-owned and makes cooking gas for local consumption. May as well painted a bulls eye on it. Now if that had been a uS or western controlled plant, it wouldn’t even be in the news. Because no one called ‘ISIS’ would have attacked it-ever.

Thanks Mak and Anonymous for pointing out to the Dummies the situation in the Middle East and really everywhere. The US military has always pretty much been about NOT making the world safe for Democracy but safe for Neo-liberal Capitalistic rapacious and exploitative behavior. ISIS and the War on Terror is probably the biggest smoke screen ever devised on this planet to divert attention from the real terrorists. Corporations, Govts and the Wealthy elite behind them.

ISIS is exactly as they claim to be. They’re the true believers in Islam–putting the teachings of the Koran into practice in a manner consistent with the example of their prophet.

Those who deny this simply can’t handle the truth about Islam.

Actually, they are true believers in the Mossad, the CIA, and the House of Saud. They are putting the teachings of the CIA into practice in a manner consistent with the School of the Americas.

“Those who deny this simply can’t handle the truth about Islam.”

I wonder if that would include every single one of the 1.6 billion muslims, or more than one out of every five people on the planet Earth?

Roger, they (ISIS) are only the ones who believe the division of Muslim belief that is common in Saudi Arabia. Not all Muslims have the same beliefs. I don’t recall what they are called, but they are the radical ones. A small minority of all Muslims.

I think Mak, you may be referring to the ones who believe in Sharia law. Oh and bull Roger and I like that Anonymous.
