Is the Pentagon Buying Iranian Oil?

Public Policy

new report by the Special Inspector General for Afghan Reconstruction (SIGAR) suggests there is a likelihood that the Department of Defense inadvertently purchased fuel from US-sanctioned Iran.

The United States paid for the purchase and delivery of fuel to the Afghan security forces for years, totaling $1.1 billion for just the Afghan army since 2007. But the Pentagon’s lack of internal controls means that some of that fuel might have come from Iran, the SIGAR office found. New checks and balances were put in place last year, but there is still a risk that U.S. taxpayer funds are being sent to Iran.

While these new checks and balances require vendors to prove they did not purchase oil from Iran, it is unclear as to what vendors must do to validate the origin of the oil. As of now, though, no evidence has been shown that the oil is in fact coming from Iran. Then again, there are very few ways to prove that a diamond is not a blood diamond, so I am skeptical.

Bureaucracy at it finest. Considering that Rumsfeld admitted that the Pentagon had lost 2.3 trillion dollars, this would not surprise me in the least.

Hahaha. Of course we are buying Iranian oil to keep our corporate military going in the region. Sanctions don’t work in an energy scarce world when the one being sanctioned has 20% of the energy.

And these European fools meekly follow rules made in Washington, that Washinton does not conform to itself.

Talking about Iran: the US military opines:

    http://www.nzherald.co.nz/opinion/news/article.cfm?c_id=466&objectid=10664122

“The US could “win” by dropping hundreds of nuclear weapons on Iran’s military bases, nuclear facilities and industrial centres (cities) and killing five to 10 million people. But short of that, nothing works.”

I do not think the US will cross that line. I think the US military does not really want to wage this war. Consider, this would make the holocaust, the projected world religion of the future, null and void.

Obama is an incompetent and his administration is incompetent.

OF COURSE they buy oil from Iran to fight a war in Aghanistan that they no longer believe in themselves. Who could doubt it?
