Iran May Halt Oil Sales to Three More EU Members

Public Policy

Iran will probably stop sales of crude to Belgium, the Czech Republic and the Netherlands, the state-run Mehr news agency reported, without saying where it obtained the information.

The final decision on halting sales to the three European Union countries will be made soon by the Iranian oil ministry, Mehr said.

Those countries haven’t accepted conditions outlined by Iran including a three-to-five year purchase contract, a guarantee on payments for purchased oil and removing any preconditions from purchase contracts, Mehr reported.

Every country in the world needs to develop a plan to balance its population, resources, energy, food, and jobs. Relying on unstable middle east countries for oil is very risky. Economic security and national security demand that individuals, businesses and politicians develop plans to move to a more sustainable future.

Iran is playing the game masterfully. One move at a time to push events the way they would like them to go. Let’s see if Europe can do without Iranian oil and maintain their economy.

@Kenz300 – sounds nice but is not realistic with the ME providing for 60% or so of world’s oil. There is no plan B except for demand destruction. If you know that the plane you are flying is going to crash anyway it makes more sense to drastically reduce altitude NOW. However no democratic politician has the power to impose this kind of austerity program on his population. Therefor it has to be ‘events’ that will accomplish this task: no more oiltankers arriving at Rotterdam harbor after the Iranians have sealed off the Gulf after the US/Israeli bombing campaign has started. I am almost tempted to say ‘bring it on’ if it wasn’t so cynical.
