March 19 “Burnaby Mountain, British Columbia, Canada” People blocked tree cutting equipment, slated to clear the way for Kinder Morgan’s Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion, that would bring oil from Alberta’s tar sands to the port of Vancouver. These actions were done by autonomous individuals unaffiliated with environmental ngo’s, currently engaged in a week of symbolic actions. Six people were arrested Follow this struggle https://facebook.com/kmsurveillancepost/

Shipping it by rail so much more safe. Idiots.

Even more interesting: First Nations tribes are investing in such a pipeline project. The potential irony of seeing film of tribal members beating the crap out of the pipeline protestors. From

    http://business.financialpost.com/commodities/energy/this-16b-alberta-b-c-oil-pipeline-has-first-nations-backing-heres-why-it-may-still-never-get-built

“As proposed Canadian crude oil export pipelines struggle to get built, one project is gaining momentum — the First Nations-led, $16 billion Eagle Spirit Energy Holding Ltd. pipeline and energy corridor between Alberta and the northern British Columbia coast… The project…has secured support from First Nations from Alberta through British Columbia to the coast. The pipeline’s right of way would…also house gas pipelines, hydro lines and fiber optic cable.”

When you see the protesters out in the middle of nowhere I ask myself how did they get there? In petrol fueled motor cars and trucks. So what does one do?

  4. GregT on Wed, 21st Mar 2018 5:35 pm

    dave,

Burnaby Mountain isn’t out in the middle of nowhere. It’s in an urban area within walking distance to Simon Fraser University, and public transit. I used to live a few blocks away from there.

  5. JuanP on Wed, 21st Mar 2018 6:48 pm

I envy the innocence of these protesters. They must think their actions will make a difference. I would give anything to be that naive. We will burn everything we can and make the planet inhabitable for our species in the process. When we run out of accessible oil, gas, and coal we will burn all the trees, bushes, and grass in the planet. We will burn rubber, plastics, and (as someone on this forum often points out) sofas. Humans will burn babies, too, if they find a way to do it. You can’t change the nature of the beast. Burn, baby, burn!

Some are naive, some are dumb, some are paid, some are just shit disturbers, all are hypocrites. Funny how “First Nations” can be against something till they get their palm greased, the it’s ok.

    Of course Boat,

As usual, you are a shining beacon of sense, in an otherwise nonsensical world.

Canada had become Nigeria, and all those living within the borders of the tax farm called Canada, support Sharai law, and hate Jews. The Jews included.

That would be great. No food to China. How about one better, no food to any country that we have a trade deficit with. Food exports give away water just like fracked oil gives away water. Let’s keep our water.

I was born in a small town in Indiana. Monticello. My family moved to the suburbs and city later on in life. And I fucking loved it. The only thing I liked better about the small town than the city. Is that basically everyone is the same class in a small town. I mean you have a few elites like the town doctor and the town judge etc. But in a city you are all mixed up with super elites and super poor all in the same town. But there are always things to do in the city and so many people to interact with in general.

If we send no food to china our farmers would go bankrupt and they are already committing suicide now in record numbers. Its just like during the great depression right now they can’t get prices up high enough because there isn’t enough demand.

Water already appears to be somewhat problematic Boat, especially in Texas, and it’s winter. You’all better hope that Trump doesn’t tear up NAFTA, or you’ll really be screwed.

Trump’s problems are not that he isn’t intelligent. its that he has no knowledge of anything. he doesn’t read and he doesn’t listen to anyone. He is a like a pin ball that just bounces around. Its like owning a corvette and having no gasoline.. And he is not the commander in chief the election was hacked and I have shown the evidence of that. And it hasn’t been refuted by anyone..

I live on the West Coast of British Columbia and I love its natural beauty. The last thing I would like to see is the shorelines destroyed by a tanker spill loaded with bitumen.

But here is the kicker, there is no going back. We can not all sustain ourselves living off of wild nuts and berries. There is simply too many people living on this planet that rely on our oil. Fosil fuel powers our global economy and grows and transports our food. Yes the carbon economy will eventually destroy our habitant and all who lives in it. Pandoras box was opened many years ago at Spindle Top. A handful of well meaning protesters are not going to turn back the clock.

  28. GregT on Wed, 21st Mar 2018 11:55 pm

Trump doesn’t have anywhere near the problems that you do MM. He’s kind of doing just fine.

“Fosil fuel powers our global economy and grows and transports our food. Yes the carbon economy will eventually destroy our habitant and all who lives in it. ”

And fossil fuels will eventually run out. In the mean time, humanity continues to add another 83 million people to the planet each and every year.

Maybe it would be a good idea to stop now, and face the consequences? Or perhaps it would make more sense for humanity, and all life as we know it, to go extinct.

    Tough call.

Europe is nowhere near as reliant on cheap gasoline as North America Cloggie.

$7.5/gallon gasoline would collapse the North American economy. It would likely take less than $5.00/gallon gas to collapse the US economy.

    https://documents1940.wordpress.com/2017/09/27/paul-krugman-white-americans-are-losing-their-country/

Millimind tries to pretend he cares about the white working class, where in reality he permanently gloats about the immanent downfall of whitey in North-America and how he is going to rape their prettier women.

$7.5/gallon gasoline would collapse the North American economy.

As I said, Americans need to stop seeing their vehicles as penis enlargers.

More like gas prices are now:
    “Netherlands Amsterdam $6.48”
    https://tinyurl.com/y8ombzkg

    Taxes on fuel are now:
“The 2007 fuel tax was €0.684 per litre or $3.5 per gallon. On top of that is 21% VAT over the entire fuel price, making the Dutch taxes one of the highest in the world.”
    https://tinyurl.com/yagpne8n

It is the usual apples to apples things with these guys. Let’s exaggerate and embellish to make a point of view large and robust and then claim victory.

In your nanomind only, fool, in your nanomind only! You have never written anything worth reading. You are just a copy and paste nut job. As a matter of fact, the few phrases you write are extremely painful to read because you don’t know how to write properly. You are essentially a functionally illiterate ignorant fool and you prove it with every comment you post here. You are a truly pathetic disfunctional insignificant nobody. Your life lacks value, meaning, or purpose. Your existence is a complete waste of resources. You are a sad example of the worst of humanity. It is because of people like you that things have gotten so bad. I was lucky to have been born in a very wealthy family and I have never experienced need, but that does not blind me to the truth. You, on the other hand, are as blind as can be, Imaginary Neuron!
