As Saudi Aramco, the Saudi national oil company, prepares for a widely-awaited initial public offering next year, its chief executive, Amin H. Nasser, is at the center of the planning.
Mr. Nasser has run Aramco, which produces more oil than any other company in the world, since 2015, and also oversees a wide range of joint ventures and investments. Along with the public offering, Aramco is also crucial to Saudi-led efforts to cut oil production in an effort to buoy prices. Brent crude, the international benchmark, was above $100 a barrel in 2014 before tumbling sharply. It is now at about $60 a barrel.
He spoke to Stanley Reed, a New York Times reporter, on the sidelines of an event sponsored by the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative, a partnership of 10 international oil companies that aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the industry.

We also support his two oldest in college, that costs another $50 per month. Why live there when the farmhouse is not finished? He lives just at the end of the road we are putting in so he also monitors who uses it.
Farmland where the farm is located goes for about P100/sq.M ($2 US) or about $$8,000 US/acre for metric challenged Americans. A small lot, maybe 1,000 sq.M, in the nearby town goes for about P1M or $20,000 US. Location. Location, location.
You can build a very nice house here for less than $50/sq.ft. with all conveniences and A/C that would look like any American or European house. Actually the farmhouse will cost less than $40/sq.ft. as it will not have all the bells and whistles Americans think they need. Just running water/sewer/electric/internet/cable and maybe A/C in my “granny suite” It is attached to, but separate from, the main house that my partner will live in.
Our construction crew of four laborers and a foreman cost less than P16,000/per six day week TOTAL. (~$320.00 US) And they live on site. We provide shelter, food and TV which might add another $100 per week. We get 12 hours of sunshine here and they work all that time except for meals. Try that in the US or Europe.
BTW: That wage is about 20% above average wages here. A laborer is not paid by the hour but by the day. About P400 most places, even in the city. And, yes, they live on site in the city also. Totally different culture.

Crazy behavior of course means 2 things, on the negative it’s more and weirder crimes and general anti-social behavior. On the positive it means more innovation and thinking outside the box.

It may not seem like it on the news but most of us are law abiding, tax paying, good neighbor when there is trouble, cliques mostly/small groups of friends, blame the gov but support the nation, hobbies oriented. We do embrace other cultures at malls, restaurants, golf courses etc, just don’t ask us over for dinner.

yes, I know.
But the outliers are bigger, the spread. Again, for the good and for the bad.
The craziness of silicon valley for example is unique in the world.

Hello, I can tell you know the US from your many travels. As you know it is a big country. The degree of diversity of “crazy” is large. The crime differences are also large. Drug problems differ. The various micro cultures from ethnities to ways of life vary greatly. We are generally less culturally stable but with a lot of particulars.
