Apparently things are moving and shaking in Oklahoma, literally. In the past 8 years earthquakes in the “Sooner State” have increased from 2 a year to 2 a day. Is the expansion of gas and oil exploration during that same period of time a mere coincidence? This week on Sea Change Radio, we hear from Ole Kaven, a geophysicist with the US Geological Survey. Kaven’s area of expertise is human-induced seismicity, in other words, how human activity contributes to earthquakes. He talks about the work he has been doing studying the effects of carbon sequestration on seismic events, the sharp increase in Oklahoma’s seismicity, and what the government and the public should know about how oil and gas industry practices could be making the earth move under our feet.

Well, it is logical that if you lubricate something that moves, it will move faster.
Add to that the additional weight of water on the ocean floor as the oceans rise and the lesser weight on the land surfaces under the melting glaciers and you are again making large scale movements possible, which can also trigger volcanic eruptions.
The Earth is not flat. Too bad education for the masses does not teach real geology and how we float on islands of rock above a molten sea that is constantly swallowing up those islands at their edges.
Humans have more to worry about than just climate change and their debts. Mother Nature has yet to bring up her big guns. I suspect that she is going to rearrange whole continents before she starts the next evolutionary cycle. She has done it several times in the past, like when North America and Africa were one land mass.

Yes we certainly are disturbing Earth’s Land Mass to our detriment. Oh and volcanic activity is associated with Earthquakes. Yikes.

I would recommend anyone who would like and interesting education on how we got here to spend 1 1/2 hour each, this weekend and watch these if you haven’t already.

Better catch your breath quick cancer twins – fights just getting started.
Or don’t – you already drank the hemlock and it’s too late to puke it up.
Was it worth it?
