Construction of the China-Myanmar oil pipeline is expected to start in 2007, Chinese oil giant Sinopec (SEHK:0386, SSX:600028) has announced.
The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) approved the Sino-Myanmar oil pipeline linking Myanmar’s deep-water port of Sittwe with Kunming, the capital of China’s southwestern Yunnan Province, at the beginning of April.
In the meantime, China will invest 8 billion yuan (US$1 billion) to build a gas pipeline, which stretches 2,380 kilometres, linking Myanmar with Kunming.
