BRISTOL – Connecticut has to act quickly in the face of an impending global energy crisis, according to House Speaker James Amann.
“This is a very serious situation,” said Amann. “This isn’t a Connecticut problem.”
Amann – who said he used to dismiss warnings about global warming – said he now realizes it’s a real concern. “How the hell did we get into this mess, especially in Connecticut?” Amann said.
The demand for oil around the world, especially in countries like China and India where industrial growth is soaring, is changing the dynamics for energy, he said.
“We have competition for oil like never before,” said Amann.
He said the state has a great opportunity this year to do some great things about energy savings and supply.
