A Revolutionary marine-energy machine is to get an upgrade to enhance its potential to generate electricity on a commercial scale. The Pelamis wave-energy converter has clocked up more than 1,000 hours of operation during sea trials and while under test at the European Marine Energy Centre (Emec), in Orkney. The test results for the prototype have underpinned the world’s first commercial order for a wave-energy farm.
