(Bloomberg) — Venezuela wants OPEC to discuss Exxon Mobil Corp.’s decision to get court orders freezing assets at the country’s state-owned oil company, Petroleos de Venezuela SA.
Venezuelan Energy and Oil Minister Rafael Ramirez will ask the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries to put the topic on the agenda for OPEC’s March 5 meeting, he told reporters in Vienna today.
“We are interested in explaining in detail what they pretend to do against us,” Ramirez said. “They could do the same against Algeria, Saudi Arabia, any other country within OPEC.”
OPEC President and Algerian Energy Minister Chakib Khelil also said today in Vienna that OPEC will discuss the matter.
