US SUPPORTING IRANIAN TERROR

During the past week, major changes in US policy have occurred that introduce new holes in national security. It has been a long-standing policy of the US to not give into terrorist
Attempts by small nations to bully the US have already begun in South America where Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is calling for a cut in the production of oil in an effort to create higher prices for crude oil and ultimately the US consumer. Iran added to this upward crude oil price pressure when Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khameni, said over the weekend that Iran would be willing to disrupt the oil supply if the US took any missteps during the current uranium enrichment negotiations process.

In a meeting last Thursday in Vienna, the UN Security Council plus Germany created a package of incentives for Iran to end its uranium enrichment program. The communication by the US to Iran marked the end of a 26 year old policy for Washington to not have direct ties with Iran. After the meeting had completed, the US added to the package by offering to lift partial sanctions against Iran if it were to suspend its uranium enrichment. This marks the first time that the US has offered to lift sanctions against any nation that is considered a sponsor of terrorism.
