To meet the goal of reducing U.S. dependence on Middle East oil, the Bush administration plans to propose a fiscal year 2007 budget that includes increased funding for research on clean coal, ethanol and renewable energy, U.S Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman said Wednesday.
During his State of the Union address Tuesday night, Bush announced the Advanced Energy Initiative, which involves developing alternative fuels and clean energy in an effort to replace more than 75% of the country’s oil imports from the Middle East by 2025.
