The army has ordered hybrid version of the Heavy Expanded Mobility Technical Truck, or HEMTT which transforms the loud and bumpy gas guzzler to a smooth, silent and hi-tech truck. The trucks will be provided by OshKosh trucks the military’s exclusive provider of the Army’s heavy cargo-hauling HEMTT vehicles. The hybrid varaint increases gas mileage by about 20 percent from the standard 3 to 4 miles per gallon, it also generates enough electricity to power a city block or hospital. Even a marginal increase in efficiency helps as 70 percent of what military trucks carry is fuel.
