Ukraine to boost efforts on nuclear energy, coal industry

Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko has said her country would make more efforts to develop its nuclear energy and coal industry, local media reported Monday.

She said nuclear power stations would be built in line with international security standards, thus increasing the proportion of self-supplied energy in Ukraine’s total energy consumption.

.. Encouraged by the uranium and coal reserves and spurred by strong desires to shake off dependence on Russia, Ukraine has been working for many years to develop alternative energies.
